Yeah, those are super tough to remove with just a screwdriver. You’re welcome to borrow mine. I like cleaning them in the HF ultrasound to loosen the junk around/ inside the check valve.
I just got a hold of a Coleman model 7030 Lantern head that screws onto a propane bottle.
I can't get it to light. The igniter has what I guess is a strong blue spark, the mantle is new never been lit. It's just sitting on ther loose.
I don't know if it is supposed to be tied tight or what.
Also I can here the propane hissing when I turn it on, and the bottle is new, I just bought it.
I don't know what I need to do to make it light, any ideas? Is it safe to light it with a match?
Do I need to do something to the mantle before lighting it?
Thanks in advance..
2, is it like this one? Try burning the mantle first with a match, once it burns 90% slowly turn on the gas and see if she lights. let me find the instructions online...
Hi Thanks for the quick reply. I wasn't expecting one so quick.
Yes it's the one in your first reply.
I've never had a lantern like this. I have had lanterns that use floresent bulbs. So this is all new to me.
Those videos are very informative. I learned from them both.
I did notice the mantle that's on mine isn't the same as the ones in the video, or the picture in your first reply. I assume it's still safe to use.
I'll take it outside tomorrow and light it.
I'll have to get a length of chain aswell.
Great, send a pic of it lit once you have some success. Might need a new mantle as well. Many of the CF lanterns will burn without a mantle with the valve open a little. Not much light, but verifies everything is working well if the mantle gets a hole. I've burnt ‘holy’ mantles before, but they act like a little torch and can overheat the glass (globe).
I finally had time to play with my lantern, and lit it with a lighter. It burns nice and bright. I didn't get any pics tho.
I'm not a paid member so can't post the pics anyway.
Thanks for your help and videos.

I need to figure what is missing on the 2nd stove ( 2nd picture), I assume there should be some sort of grate on top?
No, bottom of that pot is open, has cast burner like the small pot. I'll take more pictures today. No market today or tomorrow, rain here this weekend.
