In the 80’s when I drove a VW 1.6l smoker and filled up in Mexicali, I’d get an inch of water in the Racor separator from time to time. Was a pain to drain and not let air in the system. Tin, aluminum, brass, it’s all good, even plastic if it has the coleman stamp.
Some copper funnels have mesh screen, some have felt, and many have none. Not sure filtering is necessary unless using old fuel poured from another gpa. Fresh fuel from the store is pretty dang clean. Paper towel or coffee filter squashed in there works fine too
I've got one of those felt filters sitting in my toolbox. I use the funnel with some clear tubing to fill my transmissions, but have no use for the filter.

Well I went ahead and "got smart" on those 3-piece fuel caps on my 2 burner stove and 200A lantern that leaked so badly. Turns out all they really need is new gaskets, figured that.
Now replacement 1-piece caps are available, but I found a YT video (naturally) that explains how to disassemble the caps, burn out the old gasket and install fresh. EBay (naturally) had a BIN on five (5) gaskets for under five bucks, delivered. So everything will be ready for the main camping season.
