Some copper funnels have mesh screen, some have felt, and many have none. Not sure filtering is necessary unless using old fuel poured from another gpa. Fresh fuel from the store is pretty dang clean. Paper towel or coffee filter squashed in there works fine too

Drain? Virtually never. Local fuel seems to be very dry. Occasionally, when traveling the Midwest, a few drops develop, but I monitor it more closely when there.
Asphaleine build-up in the sight bowl, and 2-micron filter changes, seem to be the only reasons it ever gets touched.
Everything got double-clamped at installation, and it has kept bubbles out of the fuel. The Hutch mod eliminated the duck-bill, so no bubbles from that, either.
