Sweet! I wonder how often it needs to tow a Pierce?

Well if its a pierce, not often.
But they don't use it to tow engines often. It's used as a heavy rescue unit. That boom is used to right large over turned vehicles and remove rubble and such.

Well, that certainly looks up-to-the-job, regardless of what that job may be!

Looks like what the railroad could use to set a locomotive back on the tracks!
Wholly re-railment, Batman!

I used to drive one of those when I was a young man. Only thing is it wasn't for the LA Fire Dept. Great picture.

See Jim, it could be worse!
I can't help but notice DRW front wheels and no flares on the rear. Are those superwides?

No, they're not super-wides. Maybe someone tried to "convert' an F-250 to handle heavier loads.
Look where it got him.......
The tailgates from those years' F-150s will fit the Superdutys, hence the mis-badging.
The 2-5/16 ball hitch means he probably WAS towing that big boat parked behind it.
In what state is it registered?

That fire truck might actually be the one we saw too. Looks exactly the same.

I wish I had gotten a pic of it, but on my way home from a BSA summer camp in Georgia, I saw a hook and ladder truck going down the road...
Wish I could remember where though, it was a pretty white truck
