My brother and I both completed Cub Scouts (Pack #477) but did not go into Boy Scouts because we both wanted to play little league baseball and dad said we could do one or the other but not both. So we chose baseball.

Ladder truck to boot. Poor hiker went beyond his ability. That's gonna be a pretty penny to pay for a helo ride off the mtn plus 5 rigs, and ground crew.

In the state of CA fire depts are allowed to seek just compensation for services rendered. It is generally only done in cases where negligence causes a large fire (unsecured camp fire, etc) or where the Fire Dept also provides EMS services. In that case they would charge you just like a private ambulance would to recover costs.

He will likely not receive a bill for the rescue efforts. He was found by LACo Sheriff SAR, which is a volunteer organization, and they are the ones with the helo that air lifted him.
This is coming from my supervisor who is also on the SAR team, but was not on that search.
