Really loving the work you have put into this zebra bronco. Really is incredible. I haven't really read the WHOLE thread but I have skimmed through (not big on reading-even the instructions) but the shifter u installed. Is that for your t-case or..?
But keep up the good work I plan to do this to my bronco as well.

That shifter is for my transmission. My truck is blessed with the E4OD.
Some amazing....ly bad news I think that my trans might be really on its last legs. I noticed it when I went and filled up the tank the other day that it didnt seem to be shifting, at all!
Not sure if it was because my cable is all messed up, I shrugged it off thinking that I must have just had it in 2 instead of D. However, this morning I drove it to work and it was doing teh same thing. It may be that for some reason my cable is pulling and skipping teh D detent, or my trans has decided just to have one foward gear. I can get up to about 20-25 @ 2000 RPMS. I don't wanna chance messin up the engine with high RPMs so looks like I need to start really saving for my trans rebuild.

Got a bit of work done even in the cold. Here's my bracket all mounted up.

And another shot showing it with the linkage on the transmission.

I love that 97 SD it has over 300k on it and doesn't leak. Only has minor dust above the rear wheels. He takes really good care of it.
Oh... Well thanks i guess we do learn something new everyday. I am new to owning a bronco so i don't know a lot of the components, but i am getting there
Ok I ordered my parts today. I also called and got quotes from all the local shops. It looks like I will be going to Aamco since they gave me the best rate and alot of the smaller shops I called that didn't do trans work refered me to them.
I went with TCI for my parts. I got this torque converter:
I am a bit confused by their rebuild kits on TCI as they list multiple ones, prices vary, but they all seem to be the same. Even summit lists them as having the same pieces, and fitting the 95 model year. However one is listed as fitting 89-95, another is 92-98. I would think that the 92-98 is prolly for the diesel motors. Does that sound right? Not sure if they are different internally or not, jsut know the converter has more bolts then the 4 on our Small blocks....
I am looking into this kit here:
E4OD 4X4 Maximizer™ Kit 1989-1995 #498906
However, I can't find any info about what it actually contains
The local Advance seems to think that #498905 is a good fit. They are both the same price, but the 498906 has 4x4 in the title. Does anyone know if any of the internals are specific to 2wd/4wd? I know tailshaft is different but beyond that...
I got a great deal on the price too. I got the converter for $348. Thats cheaper then everywhere else(~$378). Its good to be friends with the parts store manager
Only differences I know of in the TC's is some are 4 bolts, some are 5's...
Thanks Wes, I was able to confirm that so I went ahead and ordered the converter. It has a 2000 rpm stall on it so that should be a nice bump over stock. I'm just lost on this rebuild kit thing. I have searched on here, FSB, NLOC, and even other SD forums. I can't seem to confirm if the TCI kits come with everything I need or should I shell out the extra (almost double) price for the monster in a box from monstertransmissions.com?
I might also order a Punisher Valvebody from Paul on NLOC. They sound pretty amazing. I figure with all this, add a nice tranny cooler and some synthetic fluid and my trans will be in excellent shape.
Talk to 86f150302....He's doing a E4OD rebuild also, and IIRC, he mentioned a TCI something or other...He definantly could tell you yay/nay on what to order, and what'll fit your needs....
Ok, not much progress today, but still noteworthy. I drained my transmission and am gonna refill it tomorrow with fresh fluid and some lucas, hopefully thatll get me by a bit till I gather all my parts and sell this kidney to afford the the trans shop labor.
On Shifter News!!
I did get the cable bolted to the bracket:

It was a pain bolting my bracket back to the trans pan bracket with the cable on. It seems to line up perfectly with the linkage, but it was getting too dark outside to fiddle more. So hopefully I'll have time to connect and adjust the cable soon.
