OLD DECODES
Just procured a 1999 F800 24' box truck this past weekend. It has a 24v cummins in it and many new other parts and pieces.
VIN: 3FENF80Z7XMA22240
I am trying to find some parts like Door hardware/latch mechanism as the door will latch, but doesn't seem like its holding and then it will be loose like when you click latch the door without actually shutting it all the way...
I am also looking for some basic dash wiring for the radio/cigarette/fuses/etc... I have a dinging that keeps beeping everyt now and then and if I hit the glove box it goes away temporarily.
Also looking for a budget friendly scanner for it. I have scanners for standard vehicles but this looks like the diag port is a round pin plugged port and maybe I just need an adapter or I need a specific tool?
any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

RPN in McKean PA has 2 = 800-666-0916.
GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 36 = 800-543-4959.
You have a 4 speed behind an 8.2 V8 Detroit diesel?
All that I can decode is the VIN (F50AKA17680) stamped on it.
For further info, post a pic of the Warranty Plate, riveted to the left door face below the latch.
F50 = F500 (gas).
A =- 240 1V I-6.
K = Kansas City MO Assembly Plant.
A17680 = 1967.

Thank you. The truck has no documentation. Just that plate. The information I have is that it was military. Now it does not have a 240 motor. It now has a diesel engine. I understand not original. Here in Spain I do not know if I could get a 240 engine. Is it normal for 6 screws on the front axle and 5 screws on the rear axle?

240 would be gutless in this heavy truck, it probably died, then was replaced by the diesel.
The 6 lug front wheels are correct, the 5 lug rears: The rear axle has been changed, but from what...who knows.
Why would this heavy truck have a 240? The US Gov't is infamous for buying the cheapest "stripper" (no options) vehicles.
The 240 was the standard equipment engine, the 300 I-6 and 4 V8's were optional.

Thank you. With the engine and rear axle not original, I think I will not be able to do the documentation in Spain. I think it's not worth doing the restoration. The truck sells for € 1500. In the end I think it will end in the scrapping.
.. I am looking for a diagram for a 1979 F600 so I can identify a part and hopefully get a replacement
VIN code - F60CVEC1933
it couples the steering wheel to the tires below and I was told it was a "sector"? circled in green
anyway here is a picture hopefully an exploded diagram will make this more clear so I can find another

f600 Engine bay
THANKS!
The sector is the geared part that transfers the rotation of the steering shaft and worm gear into lateral motion. It is connected to the wheels via a pitman arm, drag link, & tie rod.
Look at the link in post 2. The sector is part number 3575 in the exploded view of the steering box.

If that is what you need, you will need to pull the steering box out of the truck and rebuild it.

There is no way that skinny part (it's not the sector shaft) is related to anything that actually steers the truck.
.. first of all thanks for the fast replies
.. no not that hose or the crossbar above it (in blue) .. the part below in red which looks like it encases a shaft from the steering wheel (you are right though that hose is feeding into it)
.. I am guessing that may be a steering box or a steering assembly .. that circle shaped cap on top looks like it may be removable
.. and it does look like the truck has power steering there is some oil leaking from the steering mechanism
.. this is my father's truck and the local mechanic cannot identify parts numbers for these older fords so an exploded diagram of the '79 F600 would help tons in finding what he really needs
.. I will probably show him the diagram later this evening and look at it closer take more photos
.. Hey 85e .. the steering assembly on the small Ford F100 and the F600 are the same and have the same parts?

Will this work?
