The camper thread! Pulling, using, equipment, maintenance!
Great idea for anniversary trip, our 25th was ladt month.
We just landed in Orlando at Lake Wekeia State Park, the Ex made it from Marathon to here on 3/4 of a tank. It is in the high 90s, was 100 on the way up.
During this trip i have seen many boat trailers with blown tires and 2 travel trailers. FL highway patrol was out in force, we came up the Turnpike, I hate to see what my NC Easy Pass bill is but i am glad I have that thing.
My favorite is Wakulla. https://www.floridastateparks.org/pa...ngs-state-park
My wife and I got married on the beach by Ft Zachary Taylor 20 years ago, now I'm starting planning for 25!
Universal was ok, we all like Disney better. My wife does not like wild rides, there are just a few that are not crazy at Universal. Also IMO, Universal is more blatently commercialised compared to Disney but both are money hungary monsters.
We have been happy with all 3 Florida State Parks. Floridians need to be proud of what they have.
Attached are some pics of Anastasia State Park and Curry Hammock State Park in the Keys.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
We made it back from our 2,500 mile round trip from SC to TX with 4 kids and we all survived :-). The incidents were minor, but as follows:
1. Horrible Louisiana roads caused bumper cap to fall out of trailer and left sewer hose swinging in the wind. This led to a relatively abrupt Interstate 20 stop to remove the hose and put in basement storage until we got to our destination where I could buy new caps.
2. Louisiana roads also can be blamed for two spot welds breaking on a heat shield on the exhaust that created a small rattle that was just annoying to me (no one else seemed to care :-)). One metal hose clamp later and that was fixed
3. 3 year old son fell while climbing chairs in the rodeo arena in Ft. Worth, TX and gashed his eye open that required an unplanned visit to the local urgent care for some super glue repair.
4. Once setup at Goodfellow Air Force Rec Camp in San Angelo, TX and disconnected, we were pulling into my brother-in-law's driveway and heard a clicking noise from the front of the truck...a piece of sheet metal had gotten lodged in the side wall of my relatively new Michelin's and left it irreparable. Luckily they were purchased at Discount Tire and there was a local store, so with the pro-rated price based on mileage it only cost $100 to replace.
5. After checking the oil at one of our final stops, and adding a quart accordingly, I apparently left the oil cap off. This wasn't discovered until this past weekend when I went to change the oil, so approximately 600 miles were driven with no oil cap!!! Luckily it seems the tube to the oil cap is long enough that I did not give my engine an oil bath.
Outside of those incidents the truck, trailer and ProPride performed flawlessly...except the gas mileage. Since the speed limits were mostly 70 and 75 and I have the ProPride for easy peace of mind towing, I was doing 65-75 the entire trip and the gas mileage showed it at about 7.5 mpg average!!! I think the 4.30 gears would have really helped by keeping me out of 3rd gear a lot, but the Ex did great considering how much I put her through. I couldn't be happier with the setup and the family all had a great time!!! I will add a few pictures of our adventures later.

Ready for final haul back home after a busy and fun vacation!
Also I forgot to mention that the Haloview camera that I went with as my rearview option worked well. It was a little choppy in certain spots, but overall gave a great view behind the trailer and gave peace of mind when changing lanes, etc. Definitely a great plug and play option for Furrion pre-wired trailers. I went with the adapter plate so I could keep the factor installed Furrion cover.
