Not much to report, wife, weather, and kids screwed up the timing in the last two days, and it has been hell for me with a lack of sleep/progress on any of the projects i have around here.
finally got the welder all hooked up and working and got about 5 minutes to play with it. turns out, when i can actually strike an arc i can still run about the same level half assed booger stringer i could run 11 years ago in h/s, so at least i'm not starting from zero
barely have any stock to practice on besides a couple 2x16x 1/4'' bars my buddy had laying around and a reciever hitch adapter from his scrap pile. basically gonna copy my h/s training and going to run a bunch of stringers on any chunk of crapi can for a bit, kind of sucks that i don't have a metal table. second i feel comfortable enough with my beads i'll pick up 4 pieces of angle from the downtown hardware store and get a piece of plate to make a work table out of. going to eye spy the local junkyard in the next few days for stock as they scrap and keep the good stuff for a while. this weekend me and my buddy mike will hit up the other j/y to check what they have to offer, also gonna finally check out a highboy crewcab he wants this week weather permitting.
p.s. welding on wood benches is awesome, if awesome means your into fires and ****
as to the truck, got the starter shim in and all is welll. ran out of sunlight to work on bleeding the brakes since i got a late start on all the other bull****. wife isn't supposed to be working such a heavy schedule this week, so maybe i can have some non kid truck time to play with this week. hope so, because it pisses me off to have this time and ok weather and not get any thing done. i didn't buy this truck to be a lawn ornament

Reason: the usual
Well that's a good start. All I managed to do this weekend was swap some headlights on my 94, break a headlight surround, and spend lots of $ to get a new washing machine.
my latest bitch comes from the on denand music shanels.. the rock staion just played a rap song which put mi in a stage of angriness that words don't fit. i wanna melt my face not shacke my ***. kinda pissed. very drink and veru grilling burgers. supposed to be weldung right now. but i',m pretty sure thats not a good i dea
For not having much to report on progress, that was one looooong drawn out post about nuthin! Quit messin around, and either get a job or hooker yer wife out to make money and finish yer junk.
I can'r say much myself. I need to get off my **** and swap in the new gears and make a new trans crossmember.
if you weld when drunk as bad as you spell when drunk, you would probably burn the house down.
when you build your welding table, use a 1/4 inch wire mesh for the top. this way any slag falls through when chipped off.
works good when cutting too. you don't have to worry about anything bouncing off the table and setting clothes or facial hair on fire.
tom, i didn't drink for a couple days then i got hammered last night. my tolerance goes to hell if i take a bit of time off from the bottle.
i had planned on a solid top as thick as i could get so it would be a heat sink and a good solid ground, but i might look into the expanded metal as it would be lighter and way easier to move.
i forgot to mention last night that i just scored one bedside toolbox with a new lock still in the package from my buddies scrap pile, some kid brought him a bunch of scrap that was all good stuff, like 5'' diesel exhaust, some home made bumper/push bars with nice lights on them, and some other stuff. i plan to cut the bedsides off and make the floor into a cheap flatbed with side toolboxes as bedrails, so i'm partially on my way with that one....
my buddy did it on his ranger and i liked it. he's not on f/b or any forums and i haven't seen him in a while so i can't get/don't have pictures. it was a lot cleaner looking than it sounds, kind of like a mini utility bed look.
idk what i'm going to do about the other side, as i'm cheap and don't wanna buy a 2nd new toolbox, but i'd like it to be somewhat symetrical and not look retarded. wish i had access to a tube bender. always wanted a chase truck style flatbed, but it's just not possible with the tools and skills i have.
