until i looked at one in the box i didn't realize myself that they were interchangeable. i rarely ever have the "cores" when i buy a part. i always get new ones first before removing the old so i don't end up on a jack for multiple days waiting on a part.
i tried getting a hold of all you guys to ask about the calipers but i guess it was recovery sunday and no one was picking up. this truck is the only 70's 3/4 ton i've ever had, so i've never done any brake work on them. the 2 piece calipers threw me for a loop, never seen that before.
Kris, making a 1/4" spacer for my d44 3 series track lock so I can run the 5.13 gears. I remember Johnny had that one he cut from steel, what's your thoughs on making it with aluminum plate?

I dont see why not as long as youre extremely precise. I "think" Mr Gasket still sells the spacer with the longer bolts for around $30-35 if you want to save yourself some effort.
Sorry Dan. I dont have a missed call from you. Maybe my phone was out of service - happens a lot out here in the sticks.
no worries, sometimes i send texts and people don't get them for a few hours too. has happened with every phone i've had regardless of carrier. i'm not completely in the boondocks, but far out enough that phones get weird sometimes.
I looked for the Mr Gasket ring, can't find it. Everyone i talked to said they used to make it, but no current p/n. I already cut the aluminum ring, got it fitting my carrier nice and snug and will drill the holes tomorrow. Only took about 35 minutes to do with the air saw and some sanding drums.
idk what happened, but i did call you kris and cheeto and got all 3's voicemail. shyte happens. it was nothing major, i just didn't know the calipers were"split" and didn't wanna bring home the wrong parts.
idk wtf i'm doing with this truck for the time being. wife just got a wild hair up her butt and decided we need a bigger place with it's own yard cause she just realized we don't have enough room here to have b-day parties and such for the kids, and she wants a bigger place in general so jr. can have his own room sooner too. pretty sure we talked this over and said we'd wait a year on it, but a house right across from our good friends just opened up and she wants it. if we go that route i'm losing a garage but the guy might be into a contract sale, and it's a huge corner lot with more than enough room to add one later down the road. at least the place has a truck sized slab of concrete out back so i won't completely be going back to dirt and grass for wrenching.
Dirt and grass aint so bad thats where all my wrenching is done seeing i have a building but nothing to put the truck actually in hopefully soon ill be able to add on and put a lean too up and pout some cement under it
the majority of my wrenching has been done in gravel and grass, and i'll say this, anything is better than gravel. you always end up with one rock jabbing you in a bad spot when you are laying in gravel no matter what you do.
been a ****ty day. if she wasn't my wife i'd kick her *** to the curb right now. woman needs to get her head on straight or we are headed for a breakdown. she argued with me over going to apply to a job tomorrow because it doesn't work for her right now. jobs aren't falling out of the goddamn sky so beggars can't be choosy when they pop up. i didn't sign up to be mr. mom for the rest of my life. this **** is getting old. it's sad to say, but i can see why some guys jet after having kids. i love them to death, but this is not a healthy environment for me to get my *** into gear. i hate complexity. life is very simple if you keep it streamlined
