sweet, thanks rob. would've looked it up but had places to go today and thought someone would know off the top of their head.
joe, those tires are nothing special, just a free set of 33's on black steelies. one of them lost a bead, so i'll have to take it down to the tire shop this week before i put them on. i had planned to start on the rear brakes and getting the diff out today, but it's a hundred g/d degrees out today and that's just too damn hot for me. maybe later tonight, but i doubt it. should've done it yesterday, it was humid but only 85* and cloudy
anybody know the torque specs for d60 rear carrier caps off the top of their head? i don't have a torque wrench and the couple that my buddy has only go to like 100ft lbs.
Pretty sure they are 2 brrrrrrapps on the impact. Head bolts are 4.

If you just need to seat the bead....... run a ratchet strap around the tread center (circumfrence) and then fill with an air compressor, it's worked for me every time.
BTW..... what's the deal with the two Chevs in the driveway?
truck is the neighbors, side by side duplex. the cavalier was the right price at the right time when my daughter was born. needed something with 4 doors. i'm a ford truck guy through and through, but when it comes to cars i don't think i've owned a ford, always little gm****boxes and one chrysler. scratch that, i owned an escort for a week and hated that car.
kris i was thinking about the starting fluid route, but alas, i am a huge puss about fire now. the igniter on my gas grill hasn't been working lately and i get scared to light it with a match or piece of paper
d/c, might have to try that. gotta check out the rim on that one. i saw it had a slight bend on the outer lip, but i don't think it's bad enough to mess with the bead area.

You might have to set the wheel hub on something and leverage the tire around. (I use an old bowling ball for a "stand" out in the gravel which helps keep it from rolling around too bad).
This method has never failed me though, even on my Ramcharger's 38.5"s.
