I cant believe Im saying this, and Im sure Ill regret it later, but the front crossmember/spring hanger deal doesnt look "that" bad provided its level, square and plumb. I dont like that its simply bolted to the frame and nothing is boxed but that in and of itself shouldnt cause the suspension to be scary - again considering everything is level, square and plumb. The shackles look like crap but once more its probably not causing the suspension to be scary. In the meantime Id check your balljoints, wheel bearings and tie rods.

For your amount of lift I personally would buy some springs and do away with the crossmember. If you needed 10" or so maybe things would be different.

i was telling my buddy that i swore i had to shim an old ford starter on one of my old cars. i already tried loosening it and pushing it over, no difference. i'll get something figured out tomorrow when i don't have to do any running around. did some parts buying and got it registered today. bought the wife and kids some toys too, did more shopping than planned and the dmv is never a quick stop.

p.s if your wife/gf has big bewbers definitely buy an x-box kinect, it is so worth it to watch bouncing funbags for hours on end, and as an added benefit, the wife will end up dropping some weight that she wanted to lose from playing it, win!!!!

everything is level and square from an eyeball measurement i gotta check to make sure all the bushings are good, and i think i had a few issues adding to the "scary" feeling; i haven't been in any truck besides my f350 in a while, the f350 had the most solid jarring ride ever, and the 2 possible overlooked part: these tires are probably at about half the psi they should be on the street from sitting, and i didn't even notice till sometime yesterday that it was in 4x4. something is not right with the hubs. not sure if one is locked or not, but i guess it doesn't mater if it barely, if at all, moves. it's gonna be some serious hours into this thing to get it trustworthy in my eyes, but i'll get there.

and bgtl it is, but not too big. the way it sits now i assume is a 4'' lift. i may shorten it to 2'' and get 6'' s/d springs, but i was planning to get some 4'' s/d springs for it with the current setup. we'll see, i hate to say it but i have the cheeto syndrome bad, but i'm trying to stick to what i originally planned out in my head.

oh, and kris, the front is welded on as well, but it was a **** poor job, least thats how it looks to me as a non-welder. if i pick up a stick welder soon i want to add some simple gussets to the backside of it to brace it against front impacts on ****.

4" of lift and just a little bit of a trim at the back edge of the front fenders will clear 39.5x18 on 14" rims pretty good. Triming them more like Pauls fenders with a 6" lift shouldnt have any trouble to fit 44s.

You cant got to bgtl. Youve been one of the charter members against it.

my f350 had 9''s of lift on 38's. 10''s and 40's is ultra comparable. it will look decent without being obnoxiously tall. so it is written, so it shall come to pass............. did i mention the body lift yet :flipoff:

There's also the possibility that with the lack of boxing on that hillbilly Seth-esq lift is causing some movement laterally and/or fore/aft.

negative, the truck was lifted almost completely off the ground by that mount and it has not moved a hair. very solid for what it is, but i'd still like to make some rear gussets for the drop.

Lifting forces aren't the same as driving down the road forces. While it is unlikely if it is that solid, there is still a possibility of some twisting/movement while you're driving, but, like I originally said, get to checking on the bushings and all, and check your castor.
