My F2 today moving some apple tree branches - Yesterday it was full of tractor attachments - Two dirt plows, a pig pole, an eight foot blade plow and a forklift thingie.
that is a cool old video.....living in timber country i can relate! Took a real man to do that work, I have one of those old chainsaws....must weigh 60 lbs!
Awesome video thanks. I'm a little choked up right now as I kinda lived that. Brings back a lot of memories. Mostly of the dead I helped pack out. Was a different time, and a much different way of logging than now that's for sure.
There was an old sawmill like the one in the vid at the end of the road to my Uncles house - It had the big shed for the mill saw, a float pond to rustle the logs, a hugh dust pile that would catch fire about once a month and the drying sheds for the cut boards - We were given dire warnings of what would happen to us if we went there - It was like a written invention, wonder I'm still alive and in one piece.
Yes old Mills and mines and stuff like that are so cool. Other than stick my head in I have never been in a cave or mine. Just something about being underground that really bothers me.

That mill was in central Pennsyltucky - My grandparents lived in Curwensville on a hill overlooking the town - There were three mineshafts that we could access that had been closed for years - On another Uncles farm in the same area we used a caved in mineshaft as the dump - It was in the middle of a hayfield that we used all the time - Last time I was down there the opening was about 3/4 time larger - Since it hasn't caught fire no one is worried about it.

I agree Tricky.
My perception of a flashlight: A container for holding dead batteries. Once beyond the light from the opening I am very uncomfortable going down into a mine although I have done it on a number of occasions.
Yes I do my mining above ground Bruce. With a gold pan. Just got a new plastic one. Have yet to try it out. Going shooting tomorrow than in a day or so will go try for some color. There is gold in every creek on this Island I am told. And I have found some in everyone I have tried. I haven't checked but last I heard it was like 17 hundred an ounce. That's worth putting on the hip waders for. Still got the snow run off so I won't be in the creek very long at a time. come on up and brings the bunnies and there family's. We could have a blast and maybe even make exspences (sp).
Mervy, Cool video! Thanks for posting. I spent the last hour youtubing similar and other videos like that one.
I know this is a bit newer truck than supposed to be in here but I thought it was a cool picture anyway. I took picture this last Satuday while I was out and about.
