Back in '95 I worked for Microsoft and I got educated on a phrase from there "We eat our own dogfood". Well since this isn't a stock tranny from back in the day I can't quite say that, but since I use the truck to go get any parts / supplies / etc (it's my only truck, it's a working vehicle). I can say:
"It haul's it's own guts."

I have no doubt it did, although one valve lost its keepers, that may be what put it off the road. But mostly due to ******** leaving it without a cover on the carb.

The engine in my truck runs well enough but it's tired. Time to build a replacement to swap in.

Here ya go. Nothing like a big guy already doing his job at the factory. I'd say those shoebox bodies aren't that light.

ALBUQ F1, Great looking load! I NEVER get tired of looking at flathead V8s. Or pulling them apart to see what kind of hand I've been dealt. I like to say I'm not a gambler, but I'll aways buy a reasonably priced flathead on a hunch......

This sad old soldier has worked its last. Was originally the wrecker for a northern Illinois body shop. Now its either gonna be parts, or get rebodied. Stu

Well yeah, the frame looks to be free of major damage and it has clean paper. The bed and body go, the Braden MU2 winch stays, and the MH gear looks ok. The 4 barrel 283 sbc goes. Then all that's left is for me to come to grips with keeping a monkey face. Stu

Some sort of decent Ford power and use it as it is. Not much to lose and it's kind of cool showing it's age.

Here's a couple more. Notice the neatly packaged stake sides on the bed of the new truck (same as what we discussed with the color factory picture). (Sorry if these are repeats. I don't remember seeing them.)

Those are some pretty substantial saddlebag fuel tanks on that transporter.

It's also pretty interesting how far in terms of structure and capacity the transport trailer has come since then.

The way the top level on modern transports move around is scary, I bet if they start wagging side-to-side there's a good chance they'll come apart!

I think that the newer transport trailers are much lighter. Better? I dunno.
