We got the bronco engine running and tuned in today. I'm very pleased with the power it makes! Got a nice little bumpity bumpity to it too. With the straight headers, it sounds just like Grave Digger. Transmission works too! Goin' to a mud bawg next weekend so I'll have some pix and video then.

How in God's name does a failry stock 460 with open headers even remotely sound like an aluminum CHEVY based big block with a blower making somewhere around 14-1500hp? Hey genius, if you make reference to your turd sounding like a moster truck on a FORD forum, try to at least use a Ford to reference it too......
1) I had to put my project on hold so we could have my brother's bronco ready for an event.
2) These artards are just ranting about pointless crap.
I'm gonna get back on it tonight. I'm only about an hours worth of fabrication to getting the front axle under the truck. Glad to see someones genuinely interested instead of using this as a jealous bash fest.
Definitely interested. My F-150 is a serious work truck, unfortunately I wouldn't be able to fit in some of the places with that serious of a lift, but it is informative information!
Have you considered any performance modifications to the motor?

I bought the truck a couple years back with the money I made buying, fixing and selling a bronco and I bought the rest of the stuff with the money I made selling my last mud truck. I have some things in mind but I'm quickly running out of play money. I've already swapped over to a cast 4 barrel intake and edelbrock carb but I can see doing a very mild build later on. I'm gonna find a towing/rv/offroad cam and spring kit with a mild lift to give it some more low end torque and of course a good sound as well as a propane kit. I wouldn't mind throwing a couple hundred at a 100 shot nitrous kit just for fun either. The engine we just put in my bro's bronco has MSD offroad ignition and I liked it a lot too. So, nothing major but being a 460 it won't ever be low on power. I'd also like to put a B&M shift kit in the C6.
you might want to look into propane again if you build a fresh stroker like you were talking about dave. if you build it specifically with propane in mind you can maximize certain aspects to overcome the power loss, namely bumping the compression up a lot. the only issue i've found with propane is that i can't find much about it for high horsepower large cubic inch applications. maybe if you could find a decent 2x 4bbl intake and run 2 mixers you could make it work. otherwise you will run out of power way too early in the rpms just like using a tiny carb on a big motor.
Loose power with propane. That's one reason I just swapped a 1 barrel onto mine instead of propane.
Holy crap! Real advice on the FTE forum?! ... I hadn't done any research on propane yet. Can you explain why there is such a power loss? Is propane less combustible?
propane contains less energy than gasoline even though propane has a higher octane rating. simple thermodynamics
but as i stated, with it having a higher octane rating( say 103-105ish as an average) you can get away with higher compression to compensate if you are building a fresh motor. the power loss is not a huge amount, but it is enough to make it matter to some people. with a stock 460, i doubt you'll notice, much less care.
I dont know much about propane but I know a 450-500 build isnt too tough. I think the issue is going to be how much mpg (or is it measured lbs per hour?) a big power engine is going to use and how/where you'll store the tanks.
