sorry about that thought you were talking about my truck .
That convertable truck was intresting i bet evrey one was rubber necking you going down the highway LOL !
225/75/16 (8.9" wide X 29.3" tall)
these dually rims don't have much of an offset.even with the skinny tires,it's just not much room for tire squat.
checked my tire pressure tonight after picking up my plow, and see they were low again.so that didn't help of course.still,iv had 'em come close like this a few times now.i need to fix it so i don't needlessly waste good rubber lol.
i didn't know when buying dually rims at the time, that they made sooooooooo many different offsets.knowing what i know now,ida kept looking for 6 different ones.but, nothing a little spacer wont fix,so it's not a big deal really.could be if i keep putting it off though. i am happy i found all 6 identical ones though,so my tire rotations will be a walk in the park.
I did notice some dually rims looked deeper than others, now that you said it.
The factory original Ford rims on the motorhome are really deep! lots of space to put bigger tires, but I like running tallest and skinniest as possible for maximum fuel economy
to save $,
i used an already made 3 aux spring pack from the dually in the salvage yard i robbed the rims from.
got a good deal on those, and replaced one with an f450 aux.
then i used a couple f450 mains in my main pack.replacing one f250/350 and then adding another.
same stock quality ride with my heavy bed and this combo.
6k lb/3 comfortable ton payload combo (mild compared to what some other guys here haul, but this feels real safe, and comfortable going down the road and stopping.any more and id start to worry, and "need" hydroboost brakes then, and more springs.this s plenty for my use.though i could use the hydroboost, just for extra comfort alone.)
(the more mains = the higher the rear, and harsher the ride.but the less it squats from the start.
the more overloads = the more payload when loading up,but no ride height, nor ride quality changes when empty.)
My idiot buddy borrowed my 92 F450 IDE with E4OD and put 12,000 lb.s on the flat deck, when he arrived in my yard I couldn't figured out how he didn't tip it over.
ouch.you could use an overload at least there 6.9
the thing is, totally maxing them out like that, not only weakens them a little, but you left nothing to compensate for bumps going down the road.so your going to make them negatively arch, and really weaken them(or brake them of course.) you should add a spring or two.
how did you steer her home? use both lanes?
if you haven't driven it yet.be careful.she's gunna be real floaty in the front lol.in fact,if you haven't taken it anywhere yet.don't lol.take two trips.
In the morning about half the weight is coming off before i go the the trailer. I have to go get 1.5 tons of sand and about 1000 pounds in concrete, plus tools. im renting a trailer for the rest of the stuff and putting all the 1x6 in the the trailer. I am trying to find super springs and timbrens for the rear. I might just go the junkyard and pull some springs and make my own but it was real floatly. Ill be having about 10k between all the wood and materials.
I hauled my 86 F-250 super cab to the crusher today. The bed was filled with random scrap metal as well for a total of 5335lbs.. The loader had a heck of a time picking it up since the back was so heavy, the rear didn't want to leave the trailer. The scale operator ran the numbers twice, and I just about got back what I paid for the truck when I bought it whole. I also found out my truck with just the flatbed(trailer) empty weighs in at a combined total of 10,850lbs..
Yeh, that's what my buddy did, he had hardwood stacked twice that high.
I was kind of pissed at him and he don't get to use the truck anymore.
Having a dump bed on the back makes the load really unstable when stacked high and most guys forget about that, once it starts twisting over your in trouble.
few more pics it is not as bad as yesterday but right now I have about 2 tons of dirt and 1.5 tons of sand and about 1000lbs of portland on the 14' dump i rented.
