Stepdad had a heart attack today.
Mom says they almost lost him.
They are in Florida right now visiting with some lifelong friends of thiers so they are in good hands right now.
Sorry to hear about that Dan. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
My story...its long and complicated. Lets just say she kind of set me up. I tried my best to do my job but couldn't keep up with the expectation. Rumors were started, I was played a fool. She fired me, then increased her salary exactly what I was being payed...and added my job title to her job title. It's still painful to talk about it, its the only time in my life I have been fired from a job. If something like that were to happen today (it wouldn't, I'm not as naive as I once was) I would prove myself a worthy competitor and I wouldn't have let myself get run over like that. !
my experience was kinda like that Lisa.
i was a newly hired road Foreman for a construction company, and one of the supervisors was mad that i got hired instead of one of his friends.
so to get back at me, he had people start stealing things from my job site.
then he went to the company owners ans mentioned how things did not start disappearing until i was hired.
i got called to the main office.
walked into the owners office knowing i was being railroaded. the owner did not accuse me of anything, bet rather said something was not kosher, and that i was being accused of stealing.
i quit on the spot, but with the understanding that no one was to know i left except for the owner and i.
the very next day, as i was sitting in a police station making a statement with the owner about all the stolen equipment, he was called by the supervisor, and told that i was just watched stealing a load of stainless steel fittings, and that 6 people saw me do it.
the owner of the company told the super to bring his witnesses to the police station and tell the cops what they saw.
you could have heard a pin drop when they walked into the detectives office to give their "statements" and saw me sitting there with the owner.
they were all arrested on the spot, and the owner of the company gave me a glowing recommendation to the owners of the company i am at now when i refused to come back with him because i feared retribution from the other employees.
but for quite a while there i felt lower than dog droppings, because the only thing i have in this world is my good name and until then unblemished reputation.

That's an incredible story. I wish I could have been smart enough to see it coming like you did. Today I would play my situation much differently than I did back then.
I take a lot of pride in a job well done, and that was such a huge blow to my self-esteem, it took me years to recover from it. It's unfortunate because that situation taught me to be a very suspicious person when it comes to workplace friendships.
i hear ya. and for that very reason like you found with the back stabbers, i do not take home to work, and don't take work home.
with the exception of the company owner and my son in law, not one of the 250+people here know anything about me.
only 5 of those 250+ have my home or cell phone numbers, and only 3 know where i live.
Dan, I am so sorry to hear about your stepdad. I will say a prayer for him, your mom and whole family tonight. I know how hard a heart attack can be on the whole family. Hopefully he will be back up on his feet in no time!!!
That's one hell of a story Tom... I would have loved to have seen the look on those *******s faces when they walked in and saw you! LOL!
Yep! had a good day. Spent the better part of my day on the phone, but you just cant beat good conversation. Nothing like arguing with customers and subs all day, maybe mix in one good friend if your lucky and that's about it!
Hope everyone is doing well around here!
you know the drill Pete, no doubt. They really make the day fun. I'm fighting with one customer right now that refuses to put smoke detectors in her home...what an idiot.
You cant fix stupid....I guess maybe Darwinism will take care of that one.
How you doing pal?
Well, sadly I'm out of here already, too much to do before tomorrow.
'night everyone.
