It was just a go to it deal and it shows. Ive got a plan this time and itll be alot better. Got some 4"x4" box and some 1/4" plate today and got everything drawn out. Tomorrow evening ill start cutting and hopefully have an update.
Started on the new hanger crossmember. This is the only pic i have. Due to the way the frame is made ill be making both hangers as individual pieces then welding a crossmember between them.
Is powdercoating that cheap everywhere or just cause your a family friend????
I thought it was alot more expensive... Hahah
Was reading the thread and saw this. I had my frame power coated and he quoted me 300$ to blast and powder coat. He is in Missouri though, he said he could do up to 19.5 ft long. I though he was quoting a price because he was slow or something, but I talked to his guy when I picked up my frame and he said they were swamped. Must run on volume. He also only charged 180$ to coat my headers. Can supply name and number if anyone interested. It is a loooong way to California though.
Ok so a month or so ago i decided to **** the supercab frame and go back to where this all started. So i pulled the 2wd frame back inside and ive about got the front crossmember done. I threw on a set of 6" skyjackers and i kinda like it but it may be to tall. Take in account that i have no drivetrain weight. I have 11.5" from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fenderwell.
Also picked up a set of 64" chebys for the rear. But i need to get the front set before i can put them in. So i gotta decide if i want to keep the 6" springs or not.
Well this started off as a 4wd conversion but i got lazy and wanted the supercab frame. Well there was no room for rear cab mounts without major mods to the frame. So i said hell with it i need to get this project back to what is was supposed to be. A 79 F-350 crewcab longbed. So after looking on pirate ive decided on the front crossmember i have now. Itll get some speed holes and a few more gussets on the inside. Once i get the engine in and if there is room the crossmember will also act as a cradle for my pto winch. The front springs are 6" lift for a 78/9 but this frame is the same as a 67-77.5 so they only give me 4" lift. Ive got the rears in but the shackle hangers i have are for a 2wd and wont let the springs set level. I ordered a set for a 4wd last night and they are supposed to be in today sometime. I also ordered my sxle swap kit and rear disc brackets from RuffStuff friday night. A D70 with 410s/trac lock and 35spl axles will be in the rear. Im setting up the rear to use a 3" tall block but when the drivetrain goes in i hope it levels it out enough to take the block out. If not im sure itll level out enough to use a 2" block or even a 1" zero rate. My mind is set up on suspension so next is the front steering box mount then onto the motor,.
