We're seeing that early Calgary snow, here in the morning, gone by 3 in the afternoon.
The 78/9 was almost a cross between the Louisville front and the Starsky and Hutch Torino front end
Morning everyone, have a very heavy frost on the ground this morning, hoping I can get the panel washed and put away today and there is a possibility the glass could be going in the pickup today also.
I'm rebuilding the mirrors in the first pic during the next couple of days John, making the frames black with stainless nuts and bolts. Finish sanding and rust converter today, rust primer tomorrow, black the next and clear coat the last day. Might get to clearcoat the mounting area on sunday, will black out and clear the passenger side in that area to if I can. Wont have a big window of time if it happens. I always liked these 78 front ends and this series is one of the last series of trucks that you don't need to lift yourself up and into them, John
Most of Calgary gets legit cops Randy, we and another area get the junkie squad as our complaints can be ignored because we're Forest Lawn/Harlem. The news media says it best, 'I'm sorry sir, but your complaint is of no human interest, have you tried the CPS complaint Commission'.
Got a delay of transfer notice on my parts order Morris, it's on their end. Their computer was down yesterday and I had to call them to place my order. greensalescompany.com has a lot of old NOS ford parts and the prices are really good. $12 usd for the spring and 2 retainer clips plus shipping, ordered 2 sets. When they get here I'll make sure they're the right ones and put the word out if they are.
Good afternoon folks .
Those snow dreams came true Perry, the ground was white this morning.
I`m glad you and your wife are taking it so well Randy, this is a hard thing to deal with.
Bummer on that delay for your parts order Perry but good news that they have a lot of old NOS Ford stuff with good prices.
Well i finished polishing the second running board and got the panel washed and put away today, it warmed up enough to get it done and held off raining too. Glass guy couldn't make it here today..so next week it is..
Good evening folks
Been cleaning these mirror frames all day, going to cut hanging wires when my coffee is done and spray them with rust converter and tomorrow they'll be ready for primer. Lot of friggin work grinding off paint, wood rasping then paint stripper on the hard to reach spots, cleaning and buff sanding. Only 1 step left before I can put them away til tomorrow, sure are shiny
It didn`t rain here but it was cold and a bit windy.
What glass are you getting John?
I used paint stripper on my rental house kitchen cupboards hinges and it really worked well, some of the previous renters loved slapping on a few coats of thick off coloured paint on them.
I went over to my 56 M100 is waiting to have it`s final bodywork and paint don`t. After sitting for 2 years it fired up nicely on the stale gas, seems to have a bit of engine noise like a sticking lifter or a loose rocker arm. I hope to dig into it tomorrow. A bit dusty in these pictures....
Good looking truck Morris, would be fun to do a lap or 2 around the yard in, as long as it has steering. lol
12 pieces to these mirror frames, glad this part is done, now it's all easy stuff. Rust primer, fill primer, black coat, clear coat, buy stainless hardware and assemble on truck. Mirrors will be best part of truck.
Chilly here until Sunday or Monday, might be warm enough for a quick clear coat.
