My bad Sherm I cruised through your post and didnt realize you said transom!
That sucks, I can only bet that fixing that wouldnt be an option either. You must have taken the little boat down some rough assed roads! We took our old fiberglass one down the worst road in BC, I had both fenders jiggle off, the lights busted, but the ol boat handled it pretty well!
As for insurance, I dont know much about it. Sandi does all that kinda stuff. But She searches and deals around till we get the best coverage, for the least possible. Now the least possible isnt always cheap!
She said this morning that if anything happens to our boat, anywhere, its covered. And its covered for the full replacement value, and the way she explained it to me is we would go get a new boat as much like it as we could, and send the insurance company the bill.
We thought we might have to do that too, we had a string hanging down off of the boat from a tarp, and we thought that mice might have gotten in and chewed everything up. Luckily no mice, no damage of any sorts, and no new boat!
Now if we could get that coverage to happen in about ten years....
i was just kidding sherm.
i know unless its someones elses insurance! then they're all for that..
its dry here too morris its supposed to almost 80*here today! tomarrow almost 90.

typically i don't, but there is one spot where a bridge was out and when they fixed it they left a pretty nasty hump there. i hit that once pretty hard and i'm sure thats when the damage occurred. i've had a couple places tell me it can't be fixed other than sending it to the original manufacturer. i have to take it to a body shop next week for a look, and if they tell me it can't be done i'll be fighting for a new boat!!
well that derby was a disaster!!! took 10 1/2 hours to ride 50k. me and my buddies quads will require some wrenching... they both overheated from so much mud on the rads, and he popped an axle. his overheated on the trail, so we had to stop ever so often to let it cool down again. mine made it back to the road about 2 miles from the truck. we didn't get many pictures as the trail was so hairl we didn't dare stop for fear of never getting out.
my truck hauls 6k# with little to no effort... even my buddy who's a dodge guy commented that it handled the trailer/load real well. not bad for 3.55 axles...
hi gents,
what i'd do about the mud in the rad core is make some brackets and put some steel
window screen in it and space it a couple of inches in front of the radiator. that way you won't have that problem any more.
it has that sort of system from the factory Jack, but there was that much mud that it was caked in between and behind the rad. i've got an idea for a removeable guard that i could take out and clean on the trail as needed. another thing to do is relocate the rad to on top of the front rack. you lose some storage, but the bike will run nice and cool!!
i started pulling it apart today. man, its amazing how much mud is packed in there!!! tomorrow will be a cleaning and fixing day...
Looks like you had a ton of fun there Sherm, now the clean up begins.
Having a pressure washer like mine would be a good start, works great on the Bobcat no matter how dirty it gets. The other day I took some off a pretty good amount of skin when my hand accidentally got a little too close to the wrong end of the wand......
