The oil level in the HPOP was down a little over 1/34 inches from the top.
I didnt ad any and it started Ok.
Guess ill just leave it for another day and check it again tomorrow morning?
Can you clarify 1/34? Do you mean 1 3/4" or 1.75". If it started up then the engine will refill it to the proper level while driving. I would guess if you let it sit the same amount of hours overnight it will have a similar reading tomorrow.

That is the way I understand it as well. It won't get lower and lower as time goes by. The engine will always fill it to the proper level and it will leak down with time.
If you start tracking the hours sat and the depth from the top this could help you pattern the problem. Just a thought...
Since it started (I am assuming it started ok with out any problems) I would just keep an eye on the engine oil level and make sure it stays with in spec and as long as it is starting not check the HPOPs everytime you go to drive it.
Unless ofcourse it does not start when you go to start it.
Just 3 more days not counting today since it is almost over and they have to give you your money back right.
I've just read this entire post. It was VERY helpful since I was having a no start issue with my '02. After reading part way through I saw where you could disconnect the icp and get the truck to start. I tried that but it didn't work. However, I disconnected the connector that is in the lower ctr of the pic in post #70 - the one that is unnamed. After doing this the truck started right up but with the c.e.l. on. I then reconnected it and the truck started and ran normally.
2 questions: 1) what is the sensor called that I disconnected and would that be my problem or is it the icp? 2) how do you check the oil level in the hpop? this is mentioned many times but I don't know how to do it
I also had the p1212 code (injector pressure lower than expected) when I checked it before getting it started. After it started I got something like "oil temp sensor high voltage" code.
Just want to get this fixed by myself and avoid the dealership if possible.
I knew someone would post before I could type so I just waited this time. Thanks for bringing the picture back Barry. Is the sensor you unplugged visible in that picture? What was the plug attached to, the motor of fuel bowl? If no one posts a picture of how to check the HPOP level in the next few minutes I will, but I seem to be slow these days.
can't see it in picture #1 - it's attached to the wire in the center
you can see it in pic #2 - to the right of the fuel bowl
can see it clearly in the "dirty" picture - lower center
and thank you for the oil check location - guess I need to take the pastic cover off
yes - the plug pointing down. I should have said lower left instead of lower center. Looks like it goes right into the hpop.
That would be the electrical connector for the oil temp. sensor. What kind of shape is your engine oil in? I don't think I've ever heard of unplugging this solving a problem.
The oil isn't that bad - I mantain my vehicles regularly. I'm thinking maybe it was just coincidence unplugging that sensor. Explains the code though. I'll run it tomorrow and look everything over again.
The truck was parked on an uphill angle for about 3 weeks. Would this maybe have caused the hpop oil level to become low (and thus hard to start)? That is my only guess other than the icp sensor going bad. When I first attempted to start the truck 4 days ago it started and immediately stalled 3 times in a row. Then it would only crank but not try to fire. So I pushed it into my shop and charged the batteries. Finally had time to mess with it today.
