My truck wouldnt start today so seeing how it had a recall for the CSP I got it towed to Ford.
They changed the CPS and it still wouldnt start so I left it there for them to check out.
They just phoned and said it was the "high pressure oil pump".
Im wondering how low oil pressure would prevent it from starting.
The quoted me almost $1200 for the pump and $1100 labour?
Does the prices sound right ?
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just phoned and cancelled Ford from putting in the $1100 pump.
I phoned the place you gave me the link for they are closed until tomorrow.
For $800 I can wait until tomorrow.
Next question ......can it be changed by a backyard mechanic or are special tools needed?
Thanks again................
I would make dang sure it is the pump and not just a IPR or IPC gone south. These pumps are tough and a bad sensor could fool a not so smart mechanic. I know, most are super smart, but.........

Its a Ford Dealer that checked it out.
They changed the CSP because it was on recall anyway.
Whats a IPR and a IPC?
How did they come to the conclusion that it was the HPOP? I didn't think that one of those would go out just like that. I thought that it would show signs before just not working. Fuel Pump? Something else? I just don't know if I trust their diagnosis. Just my .02
The charged me $304.76 to diagnois it......................so hopefully thats it.
How do you test the IPR?
Or is it cheap enough to just replace?
I just sent a tow truck to bring it home but it sounds like they already have something torn apart.

No, that sounds a little goofy to me. Most of the guys on the forum call it labor! I'm sorry, I had to. Dear Lord, please forgive me and bless all those starving little pigmys down in New Ginuea.
As for the real problem. I don't have much of a clue, but when my #30 fuse went out it would just crank and crank and never start. My fuse didn't even look blown, but it was bad! It is a REALLY cheap check (but I have NO idea if it will help you!) If it did I would ask for my $375 back!!!!!!!!!!!! If he can't tell a fuse is bad...
