I just went and looked at a rusty old 76 crew cab 4x4.
The motors on its last legs and the truck is kinda rough.
He wants $200 for it?
Is there anything on a crewcab thats unique and worth $200?
The cab itself isnt real bad but the doors arent the greatest.
If it has upper and lower molding that is easily worth 200.
Here are some pictures of my projects, The first is my 79 f250 xlt 4wd Crew shortbed, 400, 4spd.
The second is my 79 f350 xlt Crew long, 460, 5spd. I just picked this truck up for next to nothing from the original owner. The canopy and capret kit have been in this truck most of its life. I am converting this one to 4wd with hpd60 C6 w/ Married 205 for now. Cummins swap someday.
The third is my daily driver 79 f350 4wd, 429, auto. Soon to get a new 460 & A flatbed.
I am cleaning my shed out. These are the complete set of crew cab rear doors that I hate to trash. I will help however possible to let someone have some use for them. I do not know shipping or freight charges. It would probably be best if someone were taking a vacation to pick them up. But I will make an effort if the other party is willing to do the same. The doors are FREE. This is my price and do not try to talk me down lower.
I took the panel off one door so you can see condition. I have the clips and hardware to put the door back together. the glass is rolled down to protect them.I also have the front door panel inserts to match the rear.
Well I am in the process of reskinning the rear doors of my 72 cc.The frames are solid, but the skins were trashed and dented.I cannabalized two nice front doors and trimmed off about 9 5/8" to make a new flange.Anyways as all projects go they get more involved.Everywhere that the skins were lapped and welded were rusting between layers.Terrible technique originally. Now being the opportune time to sort out my power locks and windows. The locks were straight forward.I wanted them childproof so I eliminated the pull rod and hooked the solenoids directly to the latch. The power windows are a nightmare.I finally ordered a "flat glass" power window kit. It has a linear guide with a screw drive. They barely clear the door skin at the bottom.I am not impressed with their strength.I haven't worked out all the track adjustments so it may improve. They will be ok for the rear doors. They will be rarely used. This all started because the lack of an armrest(especially for a door pull) and the awkward window crank arrangement on the bumps rear doors really bugged me.Now I can finally mount a trimmed front door panel with a full size armrest on the rear doors. The rear doors will not have window switches. They will be controlled from the drivers switch only.
I was watching an episode of Trucks! on SpikeTV last Saturday (18th), the guys were fixing up a 79 Crew sb to use as their new tow rig. They also bought a late 90's Dodge extended cab long box with a Cummins. They are putting the Ford body on the Dodge frame as there is only an inch or so difference in length. They haven't posted the show on their website yet. Thought you guys would like a heads up. I'm not sure how many have done this, but about 6 months ago I emailed them and asked if they would do something similar to this. Basically anything with a late 70's Ford Crew build. Irony...
Pictures by Cowboynando - Photobucket This is a photobucket link to the 1973 F-250 I found and bought for $500. It had no engine at the time I purchased it, but will soon have a 400 cu. in. and C6 + Married 205 from my other truck (1978 F-150). I am really excited about this project and will keep updating Photobucket and this forum.
There have been many "modifications" to this truck from the previous owner, example ... he installed a Ford 6.9L which involved cutting out the front crossmember and installing one from an '81 ford... Anyways take a look and hit me back with any suggestions or comments!
Thanks
Vern
