332, 352, 360/361, 390/391, 406, 410, 427, 428 are all FE engines (Ford Edsel). Did I forget any? I never delt with the 410 so I'm not sure if its a FE. I love FE's. I have 2 390's and a 360. My 360 and one of my 390's is a strong eng. My other 390 I need to rebuild. My 360 had a sticker on the vlv cover saying what it was a 360 and what my rpm, dell, TDC and some other info on it.
I am thinking once the shop gets my brakes done and my carburetor mounting gasket, I will look at putting a high flow air filter on top of the holley 4 barrel. I found a thread on google that said that the best and cheapest way to get a little more power from the 390 is to put a 750 cfm holley carb in it and some good exhaust can anyone give me some tips for a broke man to get this 390 to be a real rubber burner
yeah I dont know much at all about the fe engines i have been told by my ford guys that the 360 was a turd my favorite is hands down the 400m with a 4 speed i am more a fan of the late 70 trucks the 78 and 79 i recently had a 78 bronco 400m and 4 speed and in winter i could pull cars out of the ditch in 2 wheel drive and not spin a tire
Start a new thread outside of the crew cab forum....but...for some info for ya...the 351M/400 was designed as an emissions motor...detuned...etc....and the 351M/400 guys can say all they want...but i guarantee a 390 or bigger will womp all over a 400 any day...the M family just was never designed for performance.
can anyone tell me where the cruise control module is supposed to go on my 75 f250 crew cab with a 390 and automatic I have the truck at the shop and the module is just sitting near the carb everything is there for it to work and the mechanic is wanting to know where it is supposed to mount to

I'm thinking the cruise control was an option. Not sure how many people out there have this option.
yes i assumed cruise control was an option i was wondering if anybody on this forum possibly knows where the control module is to be mounted at my mechanic is trying to piece it together for me
Not sure on the 390 but on the 351m/400 the 2 diagonal bolt holes behind the carb linkage on the intake manifold is were mine is mounted on my bronco and I also parted out a truck with a 460 and that one bolted on the backside of the head, either way all the ones I ever seen were in that same area above the intake valve cover area. The brackets are removable is yours still there?
Which route did you take when converting it to 4x4? Im currently planning the same project
It was pretty easy actually. I took a front spring hanger off a 75 High boy, Measured it out and built my own using thicker gauge steel, same idea but boxed and gusseted it in some areas. Built spring pack out of the High Boy springs and used a set of stock Ford front springs. Took main leaf off the high Boy springs. They lined up great and gave me the lift I was looking for, Stock ford front shackles I think measured out to 4.5 or 5 inches in length, I cut out 6.5 inch shackles using thicker steel. The shackle hanger off that same 75 High Boy are held in with 3 rivets, drilled them out, and mounted to my frame on my Crew Cab using bolts. Their easy to re build using new bushings. I have a NV 4500 with a Gears Vendor and was gonna run a divorced NP205. After having it all mocked into place did not like how low the 205 hung, I removed the Gear Vendors and now am running a mated NP205 To the back of my NV4500. Rear Drive line was longer than I liked, So took a drive line out of 77F350 2wd that had a carrier Bearing, extended it 3 inches and works great! If you have any more questions or need more ideas, I have pics of it all and can either e mail them with exact measurements of what i have done. This is our second build, first was 69 ford F100 4X4 with 12v
Did you do a thread on the crew build? I think i subscribed to it. The work on that was beautiful! My plan was to essentially use factory lowboy parts. I have a complete section of frame from the tcase crossmember forward. I was gonna measure and disect it, swapping piece by piece to the crew frame.

No, I have not done a Thread. Dont even know how. I am new to this Truck chat room thing. Dont even know how to post pics, I think I figured out how to put pics in my garage but dont know if that worked. Sounds like your plan with Lowboy parts should work out just fine, I only used some Highboy parts because its a truck I was gave for free to cut up so parts ended up cheap. Good luck with your build! I am ready to do another one and im still doing the small detail to the one I just did. Think I just got another 12v Cummins, if so, Time to find another truck.
well after scrapping my last crew cab to build a super cab im back with another crew cab. picked up a straight and clean 4door, shortbox 4wd f250. believe its a 79, has a 400m built, c6 with shift kit and dana 44/60 axles. Its a nice truck, couple dings in the bed, but the rest is solid. No rust. turning this into my daily driver. never realized how much i missed the 4 doors. pictures soon.
