both sides all harnesses unplugged, while cranking the injector that has oil coming out is bad, if no oil comes out of any of them then you will have to pull all 4 out and inspect the o-rings on all of them, crank a good bit to be sure
Im waiting on a buddy to come assist with me with this one. So at this point is seems like an o-ring? Any parts internally that could cause this? I recently did the diy injectors so all the o rings are new. Time will tell. I should have results in 15 mins.
if oil dumps from an injector then it needs to be replaced, internal issues. if no oil dumps then you may have a cut\blown o-rings, make sure all the injectors are still tight, if it worked loose it could blow o-rings out
3 busted o rings. 1st injector the two on the top under the metal ring were torn right in half, in the same place. The 4th had one ring torn, the closest to the top under the metal ring. Seems ive found my problem. Now, where to get the o rings as soon as possible. Today makes it one week since the truck went down. Its been rough
Thanks again for all the help. Its hard to believe total strangers reach out to others like this.
i dont consider you a stranger, just a friend, glad i could help,
try ford dealers in your area, some are open till 5, other than that probably wont be till monday
Update: upon closer inspection i found that all four of the top rings were worn, 2 of them torn the other pretty close to being torn. Whats the deal with that? These o rings are only 8 months old.
Ford Dealer is your best bet. I use engine oil very generously when installing injectors! Glad we found the issue!! Some IH part departments are open late also. but not sure about weekends.
Doesnt look like its getting done today. Most places around here are closed. Not a big deal though. It can wait until Monday. Im going to pull the other four Monday and check em out. All four on one side has me a little worried. Im suprised no one else has run into this from building their own injectors. I thought they were lubed up plenty when I installed them. Live and learn I guess. I wont make that mistake again thats for sure.
when you put them back in they should pop into place by hand, i have never had to use any force other than leaning lightly on them, god call to pull the other side too
Joe, you are definately the man on this one. Thats's about the best diagnosis I've ever seen, especially long distance. My hats off to you too f0rd, that's a good bit of work in a short time. If I were a bettin man I'd bet on you getting it done.
Awesome thread. This is what this place is all about. I bet you won't see this any other place. Kudos to all. This was above my head but I followed it and stayed out just to learn mor eabout my truck. Congrats fordforever.
