I don't know anybody that has ever had any problems with a Toyota Tacoma that made them feel unsafe in the vehicle like I do when I drive my F150 SuperScrew.
Ok, sure wish the BFG's came in 17 but the tires ARE NOT THE PROBLEM. The Ford Field Service Engineer told me it has NOTHING to do with the wheels, tires or balancing.
If there is anybody "in the know" on this problem they sure aren't telling Ford. My boss is friends with an owner of one of the local Ford dealerships and has talked to him about my problem to see if he can help me out. They know it's a problem but have no idea what is causing it.
This is such a PITA. I can't wait to see what the DSB says. What ever happened to Labrador?
Not true at all. My truck has the 17 inch wheels and I have a 3.73 gear axle. I have driven other trucks with the 18" wheels with a 3.55 gear ratio. Also, Fords do not come with BFG tires on them. According the the Ford field service engineer all these trucks do this. Thank you for proving the fact that they all don't. I may be going to court with this data. Then I'll be buying a Toyota.
That's funny. My fx4 came with BFG's. I'm **** retentive and I know my wheels have never been off the truck since built.
I am having the same problems. I went to the batauto website and the reply I got from them was that they have found some of these trucks with miswelded leaf spring perches causing a misalignment between the trans. and the rearend. I have yet to present this to the dealer, but when I do I will post the results.
the dlr exchanged wheels with another truck that had michelins on it and we went for a road test, the vibration and handling of the truck, was very smooth..this is only in my case..i can't speak for the other complaints....on the other trucks..
I know I've said this many times before but here it goes again. The vibration problem is NOT caused by the tires. The Ford Field service engineer told me so. If you "think" or "wish" that changing the tires fixed the problem you do not have the same vibration as the rest of us.
It's all part of getting to the DSB. You have to go through all of the BS with the dealership. I had to have my truck "repaired" 7 times. Then be told that Ford is working on a fix. Tell the service manager that was unacceptable and who do I need to talk to next. The next in line was the Sales manager because I wanted a replacement vehicle. He told me I need to speak to the Customer Relationship Manager. So, the CRM and I talked and I asked him to drive my truck and tell me nothing was wrong with it. He did, and he agreed that there was a problem. They tried to fix it again. Didn't work. He said the next step was to meet with the FSE. I had to make an appointment and wait 2 weeks. The whole 2 weeks the dealer had my truck because nobody could tell me it was safe to drive. Finally, I met with the FSE and a Customer Relationship person from Ford (without my knowing, of course) He drove it, and told me the vibration was a "characteristic of these trucks" I told him that was unacceptable and if Ford is mass producing a vehcile that drives so horribly I want my money back. He told me they cant fix it and to go to the DSB. That is what I'm doing.
so sorry about all the vib problems. I have had my 2004 f-150 fx4 for about 2 months... and smooth as silk. Got about 3300 miles on it and average 75 mph on the interstate. no vibs yet.. It has the general 17 inch tires and the 3:55 rear end with the 5.4 engine. When can I expect to start to feel the vibs? Dealer told me that it has the Quiet sheet metal construction to reduce any vibs. To be fair to Ford , If the radio was not on, driving down the road would be like sitting in the Baptist church on Sunday morning.. Really QuietDo hope that Ford does something to fix this problem======
I will be taking my truck in for the 4th time, some day this week. They put a new dampner and all new tires about a week and a half ago. The vibe was back within a few days but I continued to drive it just to see how much it would escalate before taking it back. It is not as bad as what I originally started with but it is still there.....guess I was hoping they would come up with something but that does not sound to promising. I do not feel safe driving it because I am worried about what possible side effect all that vibrating is going to have on the truck over time.... is Ford willing to issue a "vibration warranty" ha ha yeah right! Anyway I have been putting off returning it just because I needed a break from the service department..... but I do not find joy in driving the truck and have not since I bought it. I never got to experience the "joy" for the first time ever after purchasing a NEW VEHICLE and this was my first ford purchase. Not sure what I am going to do, just know I do not want to spend a lifetime getting this thing repaired .....it's new, it is not supposed to be like this! Kay
