You guys are wasting your time going to Ford and asking them to fix the problem or going to the dispute boards. Ford knows there is a problem and is just using delay tactics. I had the same vibration problem that eveyone is talking about. Finally I filed a lemon law lawsuit. Ford settled and returned every penny. File the suit you have nothing to loose.
I'm afraid mike95762 is right. I'm going through this process now, but I've also got the lemonaide stand ready to serve. I suspect the meeting with the DSB will be a waste of time, especially when the engineer already came out and said the truck performs as designed. This just infuriated me since I've got 9 receipts to show all the work that has been done to resolve the issue. I suspect the DSB will stamp the same message on their findings. If so, this will have proved to be a huge waste of my time and months of delay. I intend to use the law to it's full extent as I have been told I clearly have a lemon. From all the posts I've read, I have the vibrations as bad as anyone and I've also had everything done in the book to try to fix. This was a waste of time as well and I should have demaned my money back the first few days I thought there was something wrong and was assured it was just tires.
Well I had my meeting with the FSE the other day. All I got out of it was a road force balance and "hub match mount" Talking to the FSE, I learned that any time I get a balance for any reason, I will have to go with the road force and hub match. Right now, only the dealer around here can do that.
He also told me one of the next fixes is to upgrade the body and transmission mounts. Won't stop the vibrating, but keeps me from feeling it.
I have an xlt scab 5.4 4x4, took it out on the hiway and opened the rear windows and front passenger window..... Holy cow!! Harmonic Reverberation (vibration)
really incredible and suprising. I have no other vibration problems and if that is it i'm happy, I just won't open the windows in that combination. But here's what i'm worried about if more and more people keep getting vibration problems word will spread and my very expensive truck will have a terrible resale value.
The dealer told me this morning that my vibration may be caused by my truck being muddy of course I had to tell them that it vibrated long befor it ever had seen the mud. The new TSB could be that ford will wash your Truck!
The Fla State Attorney General's Office accepted my Lemon Law request today. They will notify within 40 days of a date.
Showed the papers to my local salesman just for kicks and he gave me a direct phone # to the Ford Customer Service Rep for my district. He said he would vouch for me if needed. It helps that I have been involved in 6 new vehicle purchases from him over the past 4 years (3 expeditions, 2 F150s, and an Explorer Sport Trac) from friends and family members. I'm hoping it'll carry some weight.
I had a 2003 Supercrew and it vibrated horribly. I had bought it used (had 11,000k miles on it) and I had fought like hell with the dealer to fix the problem that they claimed did not exist. I traded it in for an 04 extended cab that I bought brand new. I am noticing minor vibration now and I have 11,300 miles on it. I plan on taking it back to the dealer and this time I will be the super bitch that my co- workers say I am. I will also print out that info from Ford....
I had a vibration that was worst at 50 mph and gradually went away as speed increased. The dealer followed TSB 04-3-3 and first put a damper on the left rear spring hanger. That reduced the vibration but did not eliminate it. After the video training others have talked about, they said it was the rear axle and ordered a new one. They put it in last week and the vibration is gone. Dealer said the differential carrier casting is out of balance on some of the axles Ford has gotten from their supplier.
I have been reading the info on the subject and was hoping I bought one without the Vib....not The dealer had the truck for 2 days. Thanks to this web page and the info posted (which I printed out and took to the dealer), they agreed the truck had a vibration issue and stated Ford is aware they have a problem. They have ordered a new drive shaft ( 4L3Z-4602-XB) and are replacing the ring and pinion. I have owned 4 of these trucks since 1996. All were the 4x2 reg cab flairside. They always drove great. This model does not. The only difference I see is the moving of the shocks to the outside of the frame. I own a 2005 F350 Screw 4x4 and it does not have any issues.
I also submitted a complaint with the NHTSA. The truck seems to be safe but it is better to cover all bases and get some resolve from Ford. Information is power! Thanks Ford Enthusiasts for the power.
The dealer already knows that replacing the driveshaft and ring and pinion doesn't do the trick so why are they going to replace them on your truck? They did that to mine back in September. I am very glad to hear you filed a complaint to NHTSA. Also, file a complaint to at www.ftc.gov. Hopefully, Ford will be forced to recall the bad trucks. They know exactly what is going on. Ask them to give you a new truck without the problem.
Have you tried to haul or tow anything yet? If not, once you do that I believe you will be convinced the truck is not safe to drive. Putting a load in the pickup amplifies the vibration and with my truck it is difficult to control. I have an 85 Chevy S-10 that drives exactly the same loaded or unloaded. I have to use it for hauling instead of my $35k truck that I bought for the same purpose. I've been dealing with this since August 04. Have my DSB hearing this Wednesday.
Pull a 3000 lb bass boat with my '04 FX4 F150 with not one problem. It doesn't even feel like the boat is even back there.
Good, that's the way it is suppose to be. My SuperScrew's steering wheel bounces from side to side and is difficult to drive even with the tires at the proper inflation.
