I'm lucky I guess. Thank goodness I haven't had any problems since day one and I've pulled my boat since it had 500 miles on it and now has 7000 on it. I did rotate the tire once myself, but I used a torque wrench to tighten the lugs.
My F-150 has been to the dealer twice for the whine and the dealer agrees that my truck needs a new rear end but wont replace it until Ford has a fix. Every time he checks with Ford it shows that Ford is "working on the problem". Do these dealer visits without any repairs being done count toward a possible DSB? I really like the truck but the noise is driving me crazy

Been there. They are refusing to try and fix it. They are in breach of contract. Have you spoken to the Customer Relationship Manager at your dealer? If not, you need to do that. Be polite, these guys are the ones that can help you.
I do have one question about those trucks that have the vibration. Does your bed on the truck shake when you are feeling the vibration? When I drive around 60-65 mph, I can see and feel the bed shaking. This of course is causing the cab to shake (or vibrate). If I speed up to around 75-80, I don't see the bed shaking nearly as much.
Why are we talking about all of the possibel "fixes" for the problem? If FORD had any integrity it would notify us and attempt to do something. I spent $38000. for a new truck. I could have bought a used one if I had wanted to have it in the shop all the time. Ford's field engineer told me I waisted his time by demanding that he drive my 04 VIBRATOR. According to the engineer, who does not have any trainning as an engineer, my vibration is a "design characteristic" of the super crew and many other four door Fords. When I told him that other owners had reported that their 04 did not vibrate , he basicaly said they were lying.Does anyone own an 04-05 screw that does Not vibrate @55to 60 withonly the back window down. I want to put the "engineer" in touch with you

You know, it specifically states in your owners manual (I think on page 56) that if your truck has any vibration to take it to the dealer immediately because vibration can lead to damage in driveline or suspension components. It doesn't say that word for word but I'm just going on memory. I owners manual was convieniently lost at my last service.
The FSE told me exactly the same thing and even wrote that in my DSB paperwork. Why aren't the salesmen telling people that when they ask about it instead of telling them the wheels need balancing and then closing the deal?

Sounds like he was a jerk. I don't think design characteristic was the right choice of wording. Physics would have been correct. You can't do much about wind buffeting except put the front windows down too. I suppose tire failure was a design characteristic of the firestones. Nothing worse when no one wants to help you with something that costs so...I mean too...much. Good luck!
I found something interesting yesterday. My '04 Scab is in the shop for the 2nd attempt at fixing the "Vibe" (the Road Force Balance did NOTHING). They ordered a new driveshaft and were told that the part number is being superceded by a new part. I am supposed to find out today when the new driveshaft will be in. Maybe (I HOPE) they have found something. Anybody else heard anything?
Ford published a new TSB on driveline vibration this morning, # 4-25-08. It has a troubleshooting chart to identify the exact source of the individual problem. My 3.73 Supercrew had the ring and pinion misalignment that was fixed when the dealer changed out the axle for a brand new one.
Thanks and update on my truck
<HR style="COLOR: #666666" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->After contacting the dealer today, giving him the TSB numbers, they called this afternoon stating the parts should be in tomorrow and they believe that replacing the driveline will do the trick. I asked him to please be sure that they are using the new improved part (Driveline) and not the old. He said he would be sure. He stated that it may be ready to be picked up tomorrow.
How could they get this new driveline so fast?
Do you think they could mess anything else up in the process?
Will I be able to tell that they really did replace the driveline by crawling under it to look? Didnt have time to mark this one, it was already in the shop.
Thanks guys for participating and posting in this board!
My dad and I really appreciate it and I know that everyone else here does as well!
Just got my truck back from dealer today. I have multiple problems. I had door panels on my rear doors of my SC wrinkling. Ford has a kit out to fix this, so watch your doors. The vibration: Was told by the dealer today they were told not to try to fix this, I will give them the TSB #s today. Rough Idel: Once again was told Ford said wait, we are working on a fix. Plan on calling Ford on Monday to get complaint paperwork started. I am ready to get rid of this one!
IT, There isn't much to the drive shaft: 4 bolts on the rear u-joint and it looks like it just pulls out of the trans. It's hard to find data on which new shaft they are using, they don't give the prefix (5L34) for the shaft assembly and I don't know what model you have. What I did find is for the 133" wb, it says the shaft is aluminum as well as the same thing as in the TSB 04-25-8: They are going to a snap ring u-joint (instead of the staked u joint) Figure 4 of TSB 04-25-8. I can't say that is a sure way to tell. Every part is supposed to have a part number on it. If you look at the shaft and see "5L34" on it somewhere, i'd say you got the new one since the "5" stands for 2005 and this fix has to be released under a 2005 part number (You can't revise 2004 part in 2005 and release it as a 2004). Maybe ask the dealer if you can come down and look at the 2 side by side before they install it.
