My Lariat supercab has its vibrations mainly between 1 and 50 mph. The vibs happen durring acceleration, deceleration, up hill, down hill, its all over the place. After that, I get into the steeringwheel shimmy and bed bounce at all different speeds. The funny thing is that sometimes the truck rides great, and others it doesn't, it drives me crazy. I have a close freind who is the service manager at a local Ford dealer. He is going to look into this next week and get me some feedback. He knows the B.S. that goes on throughout Ford when it comes to these issues that effect millions of vehicles. I know I'll get a straight answer from him, he'll either be able to fix it or he'll tell me they don't know how to fix it yet.
it turns out they did rotate the tires along with the oil change and such.. i also found out it was my tires causing the vib; yesterday i put on my new 17x8 teflon mojave's and 285/70/17 MT/R's- and NO MORE VIB. it made my day. i got to experience the vibration for a day and it was not fun, now i can relate to everyones experiences.
before ditching the truck completely, i would make sure to have ford give you a new set of tires if you havnt already- it just might do the trick..
(pics are on the way btw)
Dealer will not put a different size tire on the truck because the computer is programmed for the tires that are stock and it will void the warranty.
the optional size for the trucks that have 17's on it ..is move up to the 18 inch..which is also on the trucks from the factory..but ford will have to reprogram computor for 18's...it is a tire issue..

The Ford dealer WILL NOT reprogram the computer. It is NOT a tire issue. Trucks with the 18's do it too. How many time do I have to say this? The Ford Field service engineer told me it is not a tire issue.
I got my first letter from the DSB today. They are taking my case and gave me a case number. Says that the board will meet about the issue within 40 days of recieveing the letter. A Ford representative may contact me before that time to resolve the issue. They also say I may be asked to provide the sales contract (which I already mailed to them) and any loan information so that they may expidite the final processing of an accepted award.
So, so far it looks good. Any resonable person could clearly see that I am in the right and Ford needs to be held responsible.

Black 2004 - When I had my tires changed, it also eliminated the vibration. Then when I had them rotated 5000 miles later, the vibration started again. That's what led me to the Hub cover on my factory steel wheels. Apparently it has to be put on perfectly or it will run out-of-round. If you have factory steel wheels with a hub cover, keep that in mind if your vibration returns.

Ford did send a standard form letter to my Lawyer saying that they are currently investigating my claim. If the DSB doesn't get my truck bought back then I will have to pursue other methods. My wifes company has a legal firm on retainer so no costs until, uh I mean, unless we go to litigation. I just want this to be over. I can't even use this truck and I'm paying for it.
I need help on this one... I have a "bucking" betwen 40 and 55 (shows up at speeds up to 60 but not as pronounced). It feels as if while driving a standard vehicle you put it into over drive at a slow speed and the truck bucks. The dealership told me not to bring the truck in because they have no information from ford about any fix's (by the way the vib is involved here also). I said that this was new and I was concerned that it was not related to the vibe and could be causing damage. He went and talked to his boss and again said they really didn't want to spend time on the vehicle. I finally convinced them to take a quick test drive to at least see the problem.
Any one else see this issue?

I have the same thing. I'm trying to resolve one problem at a time. My tranny "jumps" at around 50 to 60. Also, on a grade (which is everywhere since I live on a mountain) from a stop to go there is a hesitation (nothing happens) for a second or so and then BAM it jumps into gear. Even the older F150's just a couple years back have all had tranny problems. My dealership told me to bring it in because they know of issues with the 5.4L transmissions and I will as soon as I can. I barely drive the thing but had to get more firewood and noticed this.
I got a different dealership to test drivr the vehicle with me and they saw the problem and made an appt to take the vehicle in. When I picked it up the diagnosis was "could not duplicate". I had them drive it with me again. I reproduced the problem quickly and easily when the tech took the wheel I explained it was prevalent on straight roads. He imediately took it onto a winding hilly road??? I got him to find a better test road and rather than trying to maintain speed with the pedal he mildly accelerated through and then coasted down past the speed range not seeing the problem. He then said it was operator induced???. This is the most frustrating process I have ever dealt with. At least this board is a place to vent to people who can relate.

Go back and read your DSB application. I had to sign a Georgia Lemon Law waver form. I give up my right to sue Ford if I used the DSB or Lemon Law but I could have used my state lemon law if the DSB ruled against me. I won anyway.
