well it looks like I'll end up having to go the DSB route. I had a new driveshaft and tire balanced/rotated today and the vibration is worse then it was befor I will be take it back agian in the morn. This is starting to get old!!!
I just sent all my paperwork to the DSB as I've lived with this problem for almost a year now and I've had enough. I really would like a replacement rather than my money back, but I'm concerned that there may be some other issue on a new truck that my truck does not have now. I'm trying to keep the faith....but it hasn't been easy. It all depends on how they handle this process wether I cross over to the "dark side of the force" or stay. I'll keep you guys posted.
I requested the forms from DSB on Monday. Paid for the TSB's and printed almost all of them on Wednesday. Reviewed TSB 04-3-3 and realized that the dealer had interpreted the instructions wrong. When they replaced the drive shaft they should have replaced the rear axle. I went by the dealer yesterday and they took the numbers off the differential to order the correct rear axle. When this is done I will have had:
tires road forced balanced
drive shaft replaced
vibration damper kit intalled
steering gear replaced
two (2) radios replaced
rear axle replaced
all on a truck with less that 3,000 miles on it purchased on aug 21st.
Has anyone finally had the vibration issue resolved to the point where they are happy with the fix?
my veh has been back 4 times for vibrations..it's the general tires on the 17 inch wheel trucks..ford warr 4 for me it's a whole lot better..i wish michelin made that size..25575r17

I have a hard time believing this. I wish it was true and will soon find out. Even the DSB brochure says they don't pay anything extra and reimbursement will be prorated. For one thing, you must notify the manufacturer before going the DSB route and you didn't do that. Just seems pretty fishy to me. Sure will be nice if I get so lucky. I'll never buy American again thanks to Ford. Should've stuck with Toyota or Nissan now that they have some fantastic full size trucks. The 2004 F150 is just crap.
I'm just about to order a new '05. I noticed on the TSB posted that it targets 2004. Does anyone have any serious vibration issues on the '05? I suspect my build date will be November '04.
Just drive it before you sign any paper work. Get it out on the highway and take it to 75. I wouldn't have bought a new F150 if I had known about this vibration problem. Now my cruise control works intermittantly and my transmission kicks when shifting into overdrive. Only 4500 miles and I bought mine in August. Stereo is crap in this thing. Very poor sound quality and now something in the door rattles when I listen to the stereo, even talk radio.
My uncle (rocket engineer) loves his Nissan. He's had it over a year and not one problem. Wish I still had my old Nissan.
We also have the vibration in our 3000 mile, 2004 F150 SCab with Michelin tires. Dealer balanced the tires, which cured the steering wheel shake. However, it feels as though there is a vibrator under your butt. Have taken it back to dealer who said that did everything there was to do listed in the 4-2004 TSB. When we are towing...the vibration is even worse. It feels like you are riding inside a bowl of jello. The reason we have the truck is to towing our boat or camper.. Of course, who could ride any distance under these circumstances.
Does anybody else notice the problem is much worse when towing?
I can't believe that FORD has no fix for this problem. I don't believe that it is the Dealers' service dept. that is messing up. I think Ford is NOT pursuing this problem and just sticking it to the consumer!

I have read that the 05's are having the same problem!!!!!
I'm sorry that some of you are having problems with your new trucks. But please realize other trucks (especially Nissan) are having their share of problems too. No car company is immune.
calling to get the DSB papers. Todays visit to the dealer was ended with a "Ford knows they have a problem and is working on a fix but until they come up with it you'll just have to wait."
I had a vibration problem also, a little different though. It was a suspension "rebounce" problem. And I got the same runaround that your getting. They told me it was a inherient condition of the vehicle an live with it. I filed a Lemon Law lawsuit and won. Every penny including insurance was refunded to me. Dont hesitate to use that tool if thy cant or wont fix the problem.
My lawyer says to tell everybody to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commision online. www.ftc.gov and with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. www.nhtsa.dot.gov . This is how recalls get started. If enough of us file complaints these Government agencies get involved and make Ford do the right thing
anyone having a vibration need 2 do this. this will help us all!!!!
I currently drive a 97 Chevy Z71 and drove a 90 before that. I'm tired of the same look and have been looking at Titans or FX4's...is the vibration issue important enough that I should steer away from Fords?
