It's because there are less of them and they are often in much better condition than their Ford counterparts--but that is beginning to change. I have noticed that Chevys have better value the first 2 years after purchase, then their numbers crash, and Fords have more residual value.
No the numbers do not crash, go on carsoup or something and see for yourself. And no there are not way more Fords than chevys/GMCs when you look at individual years and that is what matters because a potential buyer is not going to look for a 1990 to 2003 truck, it will be a smaller category like 1993 to 1995. The reason the chevys sell for more is unknown, but I think its just because people are willing to pay that much more for them.

I have looked at www.kbb.com. It is true. Here is the test. Go to kbb and put in a 1997 F-250 and a 1997 K-2500, put in diesel, 100,000 miles, 4x4, excellent condition. The Ford is worth 3 to 5k more than the Chevy. Carsoup is a bunch of nonsense anyway.

When your talking resale value Ford wins hands down on HD trucks 250 or 350. With the PSD nobody matches there resale value. If the truck is in good condition Ford will have better. I have been to many auctions and have witnessed this. PSD vs Duramax in resale value. Ford wins hands down.
The 150 doesnt hold its value as well because there are sodarn many of them. Theyve been the best selling vehicle for years and years. More vehicles less value.

Yeah, but that's where it counts the most. Was I not right in that example?
The 1/2 tons and gas HD's sell cheap because they do not have as much life left in them as diesels do. Plus with Ford, there are a ton more F-series gassers available than Chevys, due to the last 27 years of Ford's high sales.
Another words, Chevys are like collector's items, they sell higher due to being a novelty.
Right, and people who buy them generally don't even attempt to do the hard work that Ford owners do, so they usually are `less used` than comparable Fords.

98% if everyone I know that owns one has never towed and never will, didn't even consider it when they bought it. FL you are correct

I think that GMs previous diesel troubles could be a huge factor for the resale value.
even though i dont like chevy the facts are that it was a rumor about the heads, and aluminium alloy is a pretty strong material when properly maintained.
