Hey Ranchhand Ive been over to DTW and they do brag up there Hemis over there on a consistent basis. No Ive never seen a race between a ford and a hemi. But wait until the hurricane is out. It will put them Dodge braggarts in there place. Ive been to one forum where this one guy is so cocky with this Hemi bit. He thinks this hurricane business is nonsense. Its time for ford to kick a little you know what for a change.
Armada beat me to it with the Ford Aluminum.. However I went to the Site You suggested, Turbodieselregister.com. and saw no mention of Duramax head problems.. Could You please post those threads, I couldnt navigate the site very well..
I couldn't find it either. Hmmmmm
(blowing smoke ????)

In fact I just did a goggle search for 'Duramax warped heads' and got 3 items non of which had to do with warped heads. I'm not saying it can't happen but I usually only see people say this is an issue if they are ignorant of the subject because it just hasn't turned out to be an issue since the Duramax as been avaiable. In the past there may have been a few injector problems but that seemed to be in the 'teething-mode'
Im still not convinced of aluminum heads in a diesel. To much heat and compression for those to last long. It creates for a lighter motor though. Cast iron is the only thing for a diesel.

I don't think you can prove otherwise
Those heads are aluminum alloy with a melting point close to cast iron. Besides nobody ever complains about aluminum pistons and they are in about evey motor out there....
Hey DMAX-HD I cant prove otherwise. Hey if that duramax can pull a heavy load every day for 200,000 + miles without problems Illbelieve. Hey I wont sayanother thing. Ill eat crow. What kind of mileage do you get with yours and what do you pull.
I'll admit the Duramax hasn't been around as long as the PSD (7.3) and doesn't have that kinda respect just for the fact it hasn't been around that long - That'll take some time.
unloaded 18-20
loaded 12-14 (depending on speed and wind)
typical is #9000 @72mph
Besides, as of now, my injectors have a 200,000 mile warranty :-)
As far as eating crow you've made me do it a couple of times ....
I have sorry about that. Thats pretty good mileage really. I dont know if any of the 6.0l get that mileage yet.. Hey I hope your duramax holds up well for you. Its about time GM had a good diesel motor. Keeps the competition in line.

2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Duramax LLY 52,002 miles rite now no complaints i have a step brother who drives a 2003 Ford F-250 Powerstroke Diesel really no complaints just about the only problem was the front end, other than that it's still okay. Diesel trucks are made to work and brand name shouldnt be a issue, i was just reading what superdutyhaulin posted above and what those guys are saying kinda made me laugh a little i own a duramax and i mostly use it to haul trailers and in the central plains it gets up to 90 to 110 degress of hot burning weather but one guy said that the duramax aluminum heads melt or something i havent witnessed this so i wasnt able to comply but every truck has problems with Diesel engines its not just Chevy, Ford as well with Dodge, Dodge gots a good diesel but not a good tranny, but not to many people i know who own Dodge Trucks never complained of tranny problems so i dont know, people who brand bash trucks including Chevy doesnt bother me i just buy what i like, a good truck is a good truck if you take care of it.
AQvery fair post there Mr. Goodwrench. Sorryfor any duramax bashing. Didnt mean to sound that way. Its nice to see a fair minded guy like yourself. I wish I was like that
you speak the truth. ford WILL always be #1. i love my ford diesel simply for the fact that i'll never need first gear unless i'm gonna pull someone's house off of the foundation.
O.K. I hate to have to say this, but to accurately portray the true sales picture, you have to Combine Chevy and GMC sales. They are the same truck, different trim.
Yep,
Especially since they made the wise move of purchasing Land Rover... Hopefully we can get the Defender 90 and 110s over here in the states again. My 1994 is tired of slapping around Hummers and Cheap Jeeps.. Ofcourse bring back the pony Bronco is a great Ideal too. Proud owner of a 1971 and 1966.

Aluminum heads are everybit as durable as cast iron heads under normal operating conditions. If you severely overheat them, you will warp them easier than cast iron, but you will not melt them down. A diesel engine runs relatively cool compared to some of the high revving gas burners.
Well,
I have looked hard at the so called Hemi... Dosent look like a hemi except for the name. Just alot of commericals with a married couple preaching a the Durango mini van. I dont call em SUVs unless they are truly. SPORT UTILITY VECHILES. Something Ford needs to do is put that Pony Bronco back on the lot.
