....Wow, that makes me sick. =/

It hurts me every time I look at my miles. Over 209,000. now. Still runs good though, I'm proud of it.

Mine is a "92" F150--custom--ex cab--5 speed--4.9 efi
303.000 k---just now starting to have that bucking problem.
still have stock cats---fixin to replace cat and exhaust --fixin to put new injectors also--little oil leak at valve cover... other than that, this has been a dependable truck--still pulls the boat at 75 mph no problem..
I believe this truck (engine) has another 100k in it.I would estimate it gets
14 to 15 mpg---back in "92" with air on and pulling the boat to Galveston --would get 17.5 mpg---bought the truck new for $11,800---$14,000 after finance charges $875 per year--I can not kill this truck-anyway thats my take.

158K here and no problems. Just hauled 1.2 tons of rock the other day and the "torque monster"(that term really pi$$e$ off the 5.0 guys) loved every minute of it.

Yea I really love how mine pulls in second gear (4OD) with a heavy load, a real sweet torque band right there.

I am reading all these posts and getting nostalgic. Since my first post in here, my odometer has a few more thousand miles on it.

But right now, it has been sitting for the past five months because it needs it's original tranny checked more by a mechanic. Last time I drove it, the transmission acted doggy when starting in Drive. It had been acting this way for abit but still kept going because it needed to be. Money has been too tight lately to take to a mechanic, though. However, I had been told it could be a plugged filter, drained the oil back then. My husband said it felt like some metallic particles in the bottom. The drained oil was not burnt though and so bolted the pan back up to keep crud out until I could get a filter and replacement transmission oil for it.....hoping that's all that needed. Just have not gotten around to it yet because of the aforesaid money being tight. So we drove my husband's 83 E 150/302 Custom Van (camper).

But shortly afterward, it's dang early EFI computer died...or so we think (checked and tried everything else) My husband is chafing to get his van's computer replaced so he can drive it.

So, we have been driving my son's 85/318 Dodge Camper van. It's ok and drives well enough. But my husband really does not like driving it and because of a bum left knee, hard to get in and out of it. Ford van cabs are easier for him and likes their larger steering wheel (and "feel") I have no problems except its seat is too low and do not like the dash set up. Makes me feel like a "little old lady peering over the dash" kinda thing and I am not THAT short (5'6")

Between you and me, Ford got the cab "just right" in all ways.....and I like my old beat up Ford 4.9 delivery van better. It always took me where I wanted and hauled what I wanted. Even with its present problem...it still drove and drove and.......

The stimulus check is coming in soon.....gonna get that filter and transmission oil....to heck with the gas prices. I need my van running!

Ha. People can say what they want, but it says something that a company would put their six shooter in E-150's and F-250's. Yup, it's stout. I thought mine would be a real dog after putting on the big tires, but I've barely noticed a difference. I can tell they slowed me down, but not by much. I goosed my truck today and broke traction from a rolling stop. That's with almost 210K miles! And I know she's getting tired because she doesn't rev like a 300 should be able to (I can still rev it past the torque / hp band so I'm happy).

I really love that motor.

I wanted BFG AT's. I couldn't find any in my price range. They run about $1100. Must be some really good tires, because everywhere I look I see them. Heavy mudders, rock crawlers, daily drivers.

Wow, $1100., I paid $123. a piece for mine at Sears. Thats all I've run for the last 125k and with the three ply side wall you don't have much trouble pinching one with the rim on off road rides, or pot holes.

I find that the better you take care of your truck(good oil, regular maint., and stretching the legs once in a while) the longer it will run good. My truck really digs going off road and when I get it back on the street it feels like the hair is standing up on it's back.

I've seen guys that would trash anything they drive just because they don't have common sense.

Mine is knocking on 290,000 miles and just passed an emissions test without a catalytic converter! My converter cracked after I drove through some standing water (It had about 150,000 miles on it), and in Delaware, if you pass safety and fail emissions, you get a 30 day temporary tag. I was due for registration at the end of the month, so I decided to try my luck with a straight pipe. She passed at 188 ppm out of an allowable 220 ppm for hydrocarbons, and 0.38% Carbon Monoxide out of an allowable 1.20%. I am ordering another cat at the end of the month anyway, but it is nice to know that even with this many miles, she's clean enough to pass without a cat. That's a sign of a healthy engine. I know there's some of you who'll say "why bother with the cat if you know it will pass without one" but I believe in running as clean as I can. I'm not a bleeding heart enviro-whacker, but I also believe in doing my part to keep pollution down to a minimum. I also think that if they were based more on common sense and less on bureaucracy, emissions laws and the EPA would be a benefit to society.

What do you mean by "stretching out the legs once in a while"? Are you talking about driving it at highway speeds for a ways? I drive mine about 50 / 55mph twice a week for *about* 14 miles. 28 miles in total. My commute to work is very short. My motor is barely warmed up by the time I park it.

I agree. A truck properly maintained will last a long time. It doesn't matter what it is. Ford, Chebbie, Dodge. V6, I6, V8, doesn't matter. How it's treated makes a huge difference.

Hi Bill,

Yeah either on the highway or I prefer to do some off roading. It just seems to wake it up.
