It can be hard to tell true miles.
My truck could easily pass for one that had 132k instead of the 232k that its showing. My interior is still in good shape, everything works except for the pass window switch (on the pass side) and the cruise (which I disabled after the recall fix) and it doesn't have that "worn" look under the hood. This truck is in better mechanical shape than most with half the miles and it should make it easily to 300k. Although I hear of many vehicles that cross the 200k mark I think more 300s make it than any other engine.

Bought mine from a fire department. it was surplus equipment. bought it for 300 dollars. I have no idea how many miles are on the 1985 f 150 2wd 300-6. the odometer only goes to 99k. i do know that the department usually retires vehicles at around 500,000 miles. still runs strong, does not smoke and just got me through my whitetail hunt(added a lock-right locker too!)with no issues. minor rear main seal leak. It has had regular maint. The department had no records of the engine or the C-6 being rebuilt!
92 F150 with 336,870 miles and just devloped a very loud rattle in the engine. Can't complian though the bought it for $300 4yrs ago. Mechanicly it is fine, except for the just devloped rattle. The body is a little beat up since it used to be a farm truck from Kansas until someone drove it to maine and sold it. Overall I love the 300, and guess I will probably be looking at rebuiliding it very soon. I only wish that it had happened in the summer, and not the begining of winter, or at least held off till my garage was built this spring, lol.
'86 F150 2wd Custom 374,760km on the chassis, NP435 and the original 300. Just put an '89 300/M5OD/BW1345 into it with 303,xxxkm after the cam gear went in the original engine.
When do you call it quits? At 520k now, starter rusted out, starter solenoid just croaked and I am getting a lot of heat on one battery cable, will solder/crimp a new cable end on and put a new solenoid in. It runs and plows great still. But at some point something like fire or a major accident will be the tipping point. I can see the 89 lasting another four or five years with decent care. I'm also trying a new mix, 50% cosomoline and 50% boiled linseed oil as an undercoating.
I also need to buy another large can of V8 juice as my vac reservoir has rusted out again. I put the top on with hot glue so I can remove/reinstall it as needed.

Sounds a bit like me, but I could B very wrong...no money, no time? Just frugal? just a home plow? Dat's my 'cuses...
