Jim if I had to run everything to the county transfer station I would use side boards.
This was essentially a one off. This is the first time we have had more than 4 to 6 bags of garbage. The recycle is free, but if we show up at the transfer station with garbage piled above the sides on the pickup beds, it gets very expensive. That's another reason I wanted to make two trips and avoid the hassle of arguing how much was recycle and how much was garbage. With the 3 cargo nets I have, we could have easily piled the garbage on top and netted it down without a problem. We only have 6 13-gallon bags and 1 13-gal bag of non-recyclable garbage. We filled two bags with stuff from the cardboard boxes they won't accept in recycle. The bulk of the load is the cardboard and its 3 years of accumulating boxes and empties from moving stuff from the old farm, my MIL's storage and Alpha. Original idea was that we were going to have a bonfire last winter. We just didn't get that done. I was going to build an outdoor fireplace but didn't get that done. We have a complete outdoor burn ban in effect now and I didn't want to wait for November to roll around. We still have a freezer box half full of cardboard for the burn pile as it is.
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Up to 61.2 under clear skies. It was 37 just before sunrise.
Spent most of yesterday working around Bravo. Got some paths cut through the old pasture to the hole / channel I use for grass composting so I can get the sweeper to it to dump it. Got a few paths and trails cut down towards the river. Deer, Elk, Birds and Dogs like the trails as well. Had a hawk on the ground jumping around catching mice or something in one area I mowed. So, I guess you could say the mice didn't like it. I'm going to have to take the hedge trimmer and the weed eater to the pond bank before winter sets in.
Elk stopped by last night to say thank you??? Paths and trails cut so I can get to the grass compost pile and the animals seem to love it. Path for animals, us and clearing out around the little trees. Dogs in the background. They're headed for the pond again. Just checking on you dad. Pretty warm, I'm headed back to the water now. Supervisors taking a break. Yep, Calamity Jane is in the water in the grass behind Snoopy. Blue Heron flew in this morning and landed in the mowed area on the back side of the pond. Lots of field mice and pollywogs for him to munch on.
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 64.6 and clear for now
Need to get to the post office, mow lawns and trim bushes and hedges.
The little plum tree in the back yard is loaded so we’ll pick those in the next day or so.
Change in plans. Going to State fair, perhaps tomorrow or Saturday. Since we’re down here it’ll save us an extra trip. I usually like going towards the end of the fair to see what end of fair specials there might be, but this will work better for us this year.
