Waiting for Sheryl to arrive with Little Buddy before heading out. No school today so she is bringing him up and we are going fishing. Not sure if anyone else is coming or if they are all working.
Got back to Bravo yesterday afternoon. Two boxes were waiting at the gate. One from FedEx wasn’t in the big plastic bag. The one left by UPS a few minutes before we got there was. FedEx was wet, UPS bag was wet but inside was dry.
Big Thunder and lightning storm has hit now with heavy rain & now 00 buckets hot size hail. Ground is white like a snow storm hit. Lightening strikes all around. No way we are going out on the boat now.
We did go into the bird / Osprey rescue business this morning.
Little Buddy and I were headed out this morning and I spotted something flopping in the water a half mile off shore. Looked strange so we investigated and it turned out to be a juvenile Osprey. Apparently dove after a fish and went too deep and then couldn’t fly out? Trying to use his wings to push toward shore but was worn out and looking very rough. Would stop, his head would sink under water for a couple of seconds then he’d pop up, and try again. Pulled up to it and stuck the net out but didn’t have to net it. It was more than happy to latch onto the net rim like a perch in a tree. Didn’t seem to even question the fact that it was a boat and a human.
Got it up and onto the lid of the fish box on the stern of the boat.
It kind of recovered in about 15 minutes and then tried to fly off but was apparently still too tired and water logged and crashed back into the water. Got on net and got it back back to the boat, but this time I put him on the canvas roof top and headed to shore at about 3 mph. It made the trip with wings spread and a few flaps. About 15-20 minutes later at shore, I was trying to decide whether I could get it on a nearby tree or take it to the ODFW buildings at the North end of the lake. It started flapping wings, let out 3 or 4 chirps and flew off north along the shore line then west into the forest. It seemed to be just fine.
We were at Redmond swap meet most of the day on Saturday, very disappointed in the showing, down to about half of normal vendors. We made about $800, so we did good and got rid of a lot of stuff. Cleaned up the parts beens!! Grandson and friends helped out in loading out at the end of the day.
Jim sorry for Little Buddy, hopefully he's better soon. But for him to see an osprey that close is pretty cool.
Allen I noticed that the local car shows are getting smaller in entries and attendance.

Well, all tents were gone Sunday morning by sunup. We were off shore from the C Loop of the campground and could see the last holdout breaking camp and departing. A couple of the camp trailers left in a hurry with the break in the weather. Just two of us left on the North end of the camp ground and we’re far enough apart we can’t see or hear each other.
Headed out this morning under clear sky. Thunder storms have now moved back into the area with some heavy rain. Of course we are out in the middle of the lake.
I limited out a half hour ago. The Warden still has a couple of fish to go. Top is up on the boat so we are dry. Radio’s are off and the antenna’s are down.
Took a scenic interlude to Crater Lake yesterday afternoon and evening. Weather behaved itself for the most part.
Lightening Strkes since Saturday afternoon. Most of those were Saturday night into the wee hours of Sunday Morning. They way the Thunder and lightening / rain & now wind is descending upon us, I would say that map is going to have a lot added to it.
Lightening Rod of the Cascades
Been raining steady and pretty hard since about 0200. No boomers here since early evening. Even got to see the moon for an hour or so around 2200.
