My 22 f250 6.7 AC compressor failed a month ago waited two weeks for a compressor. 50k miles on the Truck it is out of warranty. When I picked it up service manager said Ford was taking care of it under warranty. No complaints here!
Not my dealer.
2024 F350 6.7 and 1,800 miles. Air conditioner failed on 10/1/2024 and dealer said it would take a full week to do diagnostic. They can loan me a compact car.
2024 F250 Platinum 7.3L Gas Tremor Manufactured date: 04/24
Purchased date: 06/24/24 Mileage at failure: 2125 Data of failure: 08/10/24 Repair date: TBD
At the time the AC stopped working we were returning from a trip to Mt. Baker towing an 8500# travel trailer. There were no unusual noises -- just hot air blowing. When we got to the storage facility to drop off the trailer, I opened the hood and it smelled like something was overheated. The AC had been turned off the last 40 miles.
Dealer's mechanic says only the TXV is faulty on my 08/13 service appointment. I supplied this thread's spreadsheet data showing all the completed repairs to-date and none were fixed by just replacing the TXV (which is backordered, with no estimated expedited ship date yet). The Service Advisor seems competent. There is no TSB on this problem, nor updated daignostic procedures as of 08/14 that she could find. Their service department hasn't seen this problem so far supposedly and they sell quite a few Super Duty trucks.
I am leaving on a 3200 mile trip from WA to NM to sell my property there and haul a trailer full of stuff back to WA in early September. Guess I'll call corporate support and see why this seemingly widespread problem isn't getting the support owners need to use their vehicle. I'm not driving 3200 miles to NM and back without A/C at age 75! Not the service I expect for a $90K vehicle!
My A/C has been down for 9 weeks now. Had an appointment today to get the compressor replaced, along with a new belt, TXV unit, etc. After an hour's drive to the dealer, they told me they still hadn't gotten permission from Ford to replace anything but the compressor without going through further diagnostics. They replaced just the TXV over a month ago and I had cold air for about 10 minutes, then the TXV apparently got clogged up by contamination from the failed compressor. After having repaired thousands of vehicles with this problem, I would think that Ford would provide better support to dealers on the warranty repair process. Replacing one part at a time to see if that fixes it only results in furious customers. I just got back from a 3400 mile trip from WA to NM with any A/C, with temp's in the 90-100 degree range almost every day for a month.
Time to escalate the problem to corporate customer service! Wish I had bought a GMC instead....
I see that Ted Cannis has retired and Daniel Justo is now Vice President, Ford Customer Service Division (FCSD). Does anyone have his email address so I can convey my dissatisfaction with Ford's warranty diagnostic procedures....
I called the Ford Customer Service Relations 800 number to get a case # for my A/C problem and was less than impressed with their response to getting parts expedited. Their position is that the dealer has follow the warranty diagnostic procedure. They did that already and accomplished nothing. I want it fixed correctly, even if it take an extra $100 of parts.
2024 Ford F250 7.3 with a build date of 9/24 a/c went completely out at 1500 miles. Took it to the dealership they told me it was a module but only got it working on “max a/c”. Drive for a few weeks and the system quite completely again. (2500 miles) Bright back to ford and they stated it was a failed compressor. Waited a week for the part and upon recieving it dealer installed, (2800 miles) but system still does not work. Dealer is now telling me they are unsure and want to keep the vehicle for an unknown amount of time to diagnose.
i seriously don’t like the fact that they let it idle run for over an hour to do testing on it either. Ford needs to make a massive recall and get this issue fixed immediately. Moreover, supply a vehicle in its place while be fixed.
Well, here I sit like a dummy, made a deal on a f250 with a build date of 4/4/24 yesterday. Been sitting on dealers lot for months and they dont address this issue until it sells, I havn’t signed anything and have no obligation to take it other than the great deal I’m getting. It goes in the shop this morning to have the service bulletin performed for the ac done. Basically a pressure check and temp check. Well, its 39F outside, should blow cold. Like I told the service manager, most of these compressors failed after at least 1000 miles, seems they would test good when new, and testing the ac in the winter is not ideal so not expecting it to show bad. My 2022 f350 with 145k on it has a decent ac but it is not one of the coldest I’ve had compared to years past models. I made note of that my first summer with it. I’ve had past year superdutys blow colder and quicker. Was there ever any consensus on exactly what was failing? Not enough lube? Bad piston…?

I hear what you're saying. Hope it all works out for you. My truck has a window sticker of like 12-20-23 and doorjam placard of 01/2024, so there's no telling where I fall. We both can only hope if we have a failure, that it'll be this winter. Currently, I'm over 3k miles with no issues. Fingers crossed we both have good compressors.

6,000 miles on mine so far, no issues with the AC and they did the service bulletin tests last week. It's warranted, if it fails, it fails, no reason not to pass up on a good deal.

yea, but working out of this thing and generally spending up to 4hr a day in it, being down is a major inconvenience for me.
very jealous of your tan leather. Why the heck dealers dont stock it it more i have no ideal.
2024 Platinum H.O. F350 SRW AC failed at 880 miles, with (2) weeks of claiming the issue dealer replaced compressor, evaporator, TXV valve. Gave me a new F150 loaner while repairs were being made.
