Well, I got a call yesterday that one of the customers that we put a meter in last October has a leak. And I don't think that is the leak we are looking for. This is starting to feel like a full time job.
My partner in crime is out of town until today sometime, not much reason to dig today, we probably don't have the parts to repair it.
Other then that the forecast is for a high of 63° and a 80% chance of rain.
Rod, you are pretty much spot on. There is one old timer here that has helped find a lot of the connections, unfortunately on the lower end of the system he didn't have much to do with it, so it was a real search to find everything. I'm not looking forward to the dig today it is going to be a sloppy mess.
Insurance gave me a very acceptable settlement on my stolen trailer and we decided to just turn that into another trailer for now. Going the motorhome route just seemed like a waste of a perfectly good tow-pig Excursion and drag racing is rained out more than it's not. The new trailer is almost the same floorplan as our last one, but more basic/rugged. Same manufacturer/length/weight.
Had it out to Long Beach last weekend. Ex pulled it great, as usual. Family loves it. Moving on with life instead of dwelling on the negative.
Hope you find that elusive water leak soon Tim! It's beginning to look like a full time payless job !
Bud, It's starting to feel like a full time job also... I think we are just about done, famous last words. I'm kind of starting to think that the leak we fixed today very well could have been the leak we were looking for. It turned out to be a cracked 90° street elbow, some inexperienced water meter installer must have over tightened the fitting.....

Nope, luckily there is still one old timer living that was involved in the early 70s rebuild. I believe the original pipeline a 4" thin wall steel pipe was placed in 1963, that's also when the well was drilled. The early 70s they would dig up 20' or a little more at each connection and slide in thin wall 2.5" PVC.
I now have GPS coordinates for each meter, main line valve and spur line valve along the route. I am currently working on a map book.

Trustin, Thanks for checking in. I'm glad to hear the insurance finely came through, that's a good-looking trailer, thanks for sharing. Too bad the racing has been getting rained out.
I'm trying my best to get a good map of everything. Getting the GPS locations is one thing, coming up with a map that will help someone in the future is another.
