Good afternoon Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Got the Railroad desk and the big hutch desk on the truck. Railroad disk not so bad. It comes apart in a couple of pieces and other than bulk the pieces are light and easy to move. The big hutch desck is a different story. All one piece and late 1800's solid wood. #1 son and I were able to get it out and loaded with a hand truck a few choice words and some vein popping.
Rich, ODFW has been hiding wolves from the public for a great many years. Back in the 80's, my partner and I came up out of the canyon onto the USFS Toketee Air Stip off of Big Camas Road just down the mountain from Diamond Lake. A big wolf that could have been a twin to the one in your Picture was standing on top of the burm on the other side of the air strip from us. When we reported it to the ODFW Regional Office in Roseburg, they told us we were crazy, there are no wolves in Oregon. Up behind Diamond Lake in the Bailey, Hemlock, Sherwood, Garwood, Skoockum, Devils Canyon areas, a cattle rancher from the Prospect area ran open range cattle from spring through summer with the roundup amd move to winter pastures usually taking place in October. A couple of the "old geezer" ranch hands always stayed behind to coral up the strays before the heavy snows hit. They would tell me about wolves up there all the time. Even being followed back to the corals at the top of Bear Creek and the 3 Lakes Road by the wolves. So they've been there a long time, ODFW just won't admit it.
Brett, there are a couple of the elk up there that we have gotten pictures of that make me wonder. But yes, that one the other night looked like she had a long skinny neck.
Chris, I would much rather just use the snow shoes for decorations on the outside of the log House.
Just got a call from Derick up in Gilchrist. Apparently the elk have walked on one of the inground sprinklers and broke it off clear down to the feed pipe.. So.....elk damage repair. Wonder if I can get a damage permit from ODFW????
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 47° now and climbing fast with clear blue skies.
It was late enough yesterday when we got desks, hutches and several boxes moved that we took the kids to Riverside Cafe here in Sheridan and called it quits after that. So, we have the Cemetaries to get decorated today.

I say give it a try! Worst answer would be a NO and where you are now anyway…. Elk burger is the best!

Could be interesting thing to try. They damage the rainbird which waters the grass which in turn causes a loss to the local grass seed which then contributes to a loss of vegetation which then contributes to starvation of animals from sage rats to the Elk themselves which then also is detrimental to the survival of the wolves, an Oregon Endangered Species.......WORKS FOR ME!
I still have Elk and Venison burger in the freezer. If you were to arrive at the G2G you might find that the Warden is planning on making a Taco Salad using elk burger.....Just saying
There is also a possibility that an elk or venison burger, BBQed to perfection show up!
And now the fun begins! Off to 4 different Cemetaries to perform the annual ritual. Also have to make sure the flags got put on all of our veterans. Local groups do a really good jobs with the flags, but sometimes they can get a little lost in the rural pioneer cemeteries around here. Especially when they don't get annually updated names or plot maps. As a board member for one of those "out in the stick" pioneer cemeteries, I always try to double check Vets and flags. We do have a number of Civil War Veterans there.
