Ah I didn't think of that. I guess the oil film from the CCV should be enough for the inside of the tube.

Thanks for the pics and measurements! That helps to give a better idea of what I should buy.

No problem.
Took a couple more with a ruler for reference.

The reason I figure on stainless vs aluminum coated is because, in the case of the latter, the weld itself wouldn't have an aluminum coating. I'd have to paint the inside and outside of the pipe to prevent rust, which I wouldn't be keen on doing.
oil mist from the ccv would prevent rust and inside paint shouldnt be needed

Okay, I should be able to procure aluminized pipe of the proper dimensions from a local outfit for ~ 30 dollars. Much more reasonable.

Trying to get ahold of the number and types of boots I need in addition to the RR boot kit. I know I need
  • 1x 4" ID 45 deg boot w/4" leg
  • 1x 4" ID straight boot 4" long
for the AIS/CCV compatible intake. It also looks like I need a reducer boot to connect the turbo to the hot pipe. Anyone happen to know the size offhand?

According to Sous’s parts list thread, the turbo to hot pipe boot is 3 x 2.5.
Listed as “Optional part, 5” boot”.

The aluminized pipe fittings can be bought through Napa, oriellys, etc.

Here is another source for boots and clamps, etc.

http://www.frozenboost.com/intake-pi...ducer-p-5.html

A muffler shop should be able to weld your pipes up.

Thanks RJ!

SSJ that site is an amazing resource, thanks for linking to it. Looking at all the varieties of boots they have has me wondering if the hot pipe to turbo connection could be made using some 3" straight pipe and a couple of angled boots? Perhaps two 45 deg boots or a 45 and a 30...

One quick question about after market boots in general: do any of them have the inner lip that engages with the groove on the end of the stock IC pipes?

RiffRaff boots have the groove in them.

I used angled boots for the hot pipe when I first built my T4 mount and they ended up tearing. Angles are a lot harder on the boots and the more you can avoid them, the better. They tend to tear on the outside radius.

Not all the ones I bought from RiffRaff have it. Only the y-pipe boot has the bump inside to engage the groove in the cold side CAC pipe. I've had success with filling the groove to keep boots from popping off.

That's a good point I wouldn't have thought of. I'll stick with the steel piping you suggested Brokestroke. FTN: I had wondered if something like that was possible. Disappointing that RR boots don't all have the groove... no doubt there aren't many suppliers source from.

Ordered boots, clamps, plenum inserts, all necessary o-rings/gaskets to rebuild HPOP and fuel bowl, lines for the aforementioned, a RR OCR, wrap for the down n up pipes.

One thing I need to talk to Irate about his how to mate the stock 3.5" exhaust to their 4" downpipe; I'm completely green to exhaust so no idea the proper way to go about it.
