Matthew, I'm very nervous. I admit that I'm dragging feet a little.
Well you did not build that engine stand to be a display rack, it is OSHA and NASA certified to be a short term engine break in and storage rack. Remember I sent you the sticker.... for a 12er..
A good thing for cold feet are wool socks and steel toed boots. Oh I mean dragging feet....well you know the drill, get in step troop.

You're killing me. First you wake me and Scrappy up with an ill timed email, now you're accusing me of sandbagging.
I'm trying. Gonna pick up some coolant this afternoon. Maybe I'll convince myself that everything is ok, and get it fired up this weekend.
Ha you said that email did NOT wake you up, now you are just busting on me to be mean. What coolant you running in that aluminium radiator? The kind FOR aluminium radiators? Lol more homework. Crank up the intro tunes with the disco ball and fire that BMF up. You got this, if not...we are here for you.

Prestone 50/50 yellow/green. What champion recommends.

I have a anode for the cap, but I am curious about the petcock. Have a link/pic? goggled it but cant delete post

Thanks, Kubota! Results are now delayed a bit. Rich threatened to kidnap my cat if I didn't get that engine fired up today, so I fast tracked it. Well, I was filling the coolant, and sure as **** there's two leaks. I've got to pull the water pump and reseal it. Crap! Hopefully a parts store in town has the gaskets. But at least it happened on the engine stand. That's two victories for the engine stand!

Yes! I love sacrificial anodes. And it's probably quite relevant on the 460, as one I had in the early '80s blew thru TWO front covers where the aluminum rotted away at the waterpump passages.
Which reminds me: I better check the pH and running potential difference of the unknown (but nicely green) mix I have now.
Did you get the leak sorted out? I'm thinking the thru bolts from the water pump to the block are open to the coolant passage on the block side?

I could see where it was leaking. Between the timing cover and gasket. I put RTV on every surface, and PTFE sealant on every bolt. I musta just goofed somewhere. Auto Zone will have the gaskets in the morning. I have time tonight to fix it, but alas no gaskets. Crap! At least its not leaking at the block, which would mean I'd have to drop the oil pan and remove the timing cover. I'd want the engine back on the build stand for that. But hey, it's still early in the game. No telling what's next. I'm just so happy that I built that test stand. It's paid for itself twice already.

What a load of BaLOnEy. I just opened the truck door and she jumped in all by herself. Lol She had a lonley look in her eyes, like I could see the sorrow from the lack of a "460 idling sound in her life" look. Is Scrappy a Kibbles and Bits kinda cat or Friskies?
Sorry to hear about the leak, but like you said at least you found it while it was still on the stand. And at least it was a easy fix. Hang in there, we all are rooting for ya.
