The Brotherhood comes through I told ya I forgot it was the "Air Gap" .. So on to the Kaiser Jeep
Not a Kaiser, just a TJ.
I fired the engine up today for my friend Jeremy who is also my UPS driver. It was the least I could do, since he's lifted almost every component on that engine.

I was just kidding you about the Jeep When you're as old as me you realize the last real Jeep was made when Kaiser owned Jeep TeeHee
So Jeremy has stock in "Voodoo Chile"
Thank you Ronzi. I'm excited about it. And looking forward to getting time to move it outside for better, 360 degree walk around video.
After getting timing, and idle mixture dialed in, the engine is making 13" of vacuum at idle. It might make a little more once the rings are fully seated. For me, 13" of vacuum is bottom of the scale for vacuum brake boosters, so I did what I've been wanting to do since I bought the truck,.....I ordered a hydraboost kit yesterday. Even though the 400 that's in the truck makes 20" of vacuum, I'll install the hydraboost before I swap engines.
Im sure you will do a great job of documenting the hydraboost conversion on here and I will sure be checking it out when you do. I need to do this to my truck sooner than later and I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

The box arrived today. The machined aluminum adaptor is really nice. The instructions seem good. All the hoses and hardware are nice. They even included two flexible stainless braided brake lines to go from master cylinder to proportioning valve. I won't be using them, since I bypassed that goofy proportioning valve a long time ago. I'll be using the Wilwood adjustable valve I already have. They forgot to include the master cylinder in the box, and the brass NPT elbow on the booster got bent in shipping. I called Wild Horses, and they took care of me. I'll try to get it installed in the next couple of weeks.
Excellent! Gotta' build one if you do more than one engine but for the rest of us it should be something that we can rent. Ace Hardware? Tractor Supply? Opportunity knocks.

Actually, the test stand was worth building for just one engine. I'd have been extremely angry and deflated had I installed the engine in the truck, then found that water pump gasket leak.
I can totally relate,,,,there is no way I was going to install my motor before firing up on a stand,,,,,immediately oil leak o-ring on oil filter positioner,,,I think its a 460 thing.(punched one out of cork with gasket maker)and proceeded. You could make up cards and drop them off at your local speed shop,,,,,,,people pay good money to have their motor broke in on a stand .And would be very appreciative ,its a ton of work,,,,My motor was spewing oil,,,,high dollar brake in oil,,,,,shutter Down
After four sets of gaskets, I finally threw in the towel on those fabricated aluminum valve covers. Their misaligned flanges split every gasket.
I replaced them with Ford Racing valve covers, and they're really nice. They look good, and the flanges match gaskets and cylinder head perfectly. There are two drawbacks to them, but were easily remedied. One corner hole on each valve cover is so close to the vertical part of the valve cover, that you cannot use a standard hex or 12 pt bolt. I read where some guys ground reliefs in the valve cover, but I opted for small headed bolts. And the baffle plates come with some really janky chinese self threading screws. I can see those breaking or coming loose, then destroying the engine. So I drilled and tapped the bosses to 8x40, and used quality fillister head scope base screws with red thread locker.
Another cool feature, the valve covers come with two extra baffle plates, and each valve cover has relief for opening up another breather or filler cap hole. I drilled and tapped the extra baffle bosses, and may install a dedicated filler cap later.
Nice VERY nice. When is the National Air and Space Museum branch of the Smithsonian Institution coming to get it to have proper display of "The Ford 460 in all its glory" ? And for an added bonus viewing of "The engine test run stand" in a version that does not get any better.
You're making me blush, Rich. Thank you. I don't think I could bear to part with the engine or the stand. It's gonna be a sad day when the engine goes in the truck. I've had so much fun watching kids and adults in awe over this thing. Most well adjusted people have no idea what a complete engine looks like, especially while it's actually running. It never occurred to me that it'd be such a great teaching tool. I'll have to get the Lunati 302 finished up so it can go on the test stand soon as the 502 gets installed in the truck.
