First a quick recap. I dropped a 10mm bolt. Somewhere on the top of the motor. So I removed the spider, pipes, boots, turbo, plenums and fuel filter to search for it. I came up empty and reassembled. I also cranked it over by hand and didn't hear anything.
Now everything is back together and I just started the truck. I let cycled it 4 or 5 times for fuel and then started it. And it started right off. Then every few seconds I would hear a "ting" noise. Then it the ting noise turned into a "ting, ting, ting, thing..." and I shut the truck down. I uploaded a video of the startup hoping somebody can give me some advise. I don't know if I'm hearing the bolt inside the motor, or if it's stuck somewhere else...I'm at a total loss. Please have a look at the video and let me know what you think. You can hear it best at the end of the clip.
10mm would be to big to go thru the intake valve i believe you sure it ain't in the intake port somewhere in the runners?
I took an endoscope camera into each port and did not see anything, I also stuck a magnet in each port and came up empty. I looked multiple times, but could not id anything. Maybe it was around a corner that I just simply couldn't see.
I cant tell from the video, but are you sure the ting is coming from inside the engine? Perhaps the bolt is trapped somewhere between the front of the engine and a pulley or between the radiator and fan?
