The two posts that are not on the wall are attached to the floor.
I was thinking the extra wall would give more stuff hanging areas. I was pondering if this could be a lounge area with TV and such.
My son's future in laws use their shop as a party location/shop. He has a lift so I'm a bit jealous. Of course we don't host lots of parties, but having a place to have cookouts and such during nice weather would be cool.
I could run a light and possibly a ceiling fan as well. A fan might be a little tight though. It's about 7'4" to the joists. Then with the wall and a cot, I would have a nice napping spot too.

Be careful! You just might be designing a dog house for yourself when you and the Mrs. have a little spat!
The day has arrived!!!!!! Tomorrow morning I will be getting garage doors!
I ordered them 5 months ago.
Last night I hooked up the rest of the outlets, so I have power all around the shop.
I still will need to add outlets in the celling for future garage door openers and possible drop down extension cords. I also need to finish wiring the outside lights.
We got about 4 inches of snow last night, but Sunday and through the week will be in the 60's so I should have good opportunities to work on the lights. Of course I may just sit in the driveway looking at my new garage doors.
Has to be a Happy Day Joe! Can't imagine how excited you must be. I'm sure it'll be worth the weight. Now I've gotta get down there and see the final project.
Yes, BJ you need to come check it out soon. I also have to figure out how to get the engine from the garage to the shop. I think my nephews have a engine hoist still. Or I should buy one soon.
We have the lights, I just need to get them installed.
Here are the two we picked out. The barn style will go above the door and we have two of the carriage lights for either side of the doors. Actually just like Bob did in his photoshop
I'd like to add one more addition to your shop. Don't know if anyone mentioned it or even if you'd want it but I have key pad locks on both my shop and back attached garage door. Since I use my shop as a business building there are times when I'm not in the shop when someone stops by like a customer dropping off a part or a parts driver from one of my vendors dropping off a part I urgently need. It's really is nice when you have employees. I assign a four digit code, using the last four numbers of their phone number. Vendor delivery drivers I just assign a random number that I keep track of. If an employee leaves I just wipe out the code assigned to them, in the old days if you gave an employee a key who knows how many copies were made and if that employee left on bad terms you'd have to have the locks rekeyed.
That's a really good idea, Bob.
Garage doors are in. I will need to take a picture tomorrow. We have our grandson this weekend, so we left the house as soon as they were done to take him to a trampoline park. He's three and he had a great time.
Well your shop has now been officially secured it's first night. Has to be a good feeling, not to mention it's new non plastic blue tarp look😁 Looking forward to your pictures. Are you having a Grand Opening with ribbon cutting ceremony for all your neighbors and friends?😆
My oldest daughter says we need to have a hibachi night. I have a flat grill and sometimes cook the hibachi chicken and steak like they do in the Japanese restaurants where the cook in front of you.
So I guess we will be doing that soon. When are you all coming down?
So, I need an opinion on decorations. I have a flag that is 8'X12' and yesterday I was looking at it and thought it would be good to cover a portion of a wall in the shop.
Well 8' it a bit too tall.
So, should I keep this here or not? I also though about hanging it on the main support beams in the middle of the shop That would really split the shop, but it is probably too big for that.
Now, why do I have a flag that big? Over 25 years ago I worked at a company that had this flag. It got caught on the state flag pole and we had to get the fire department to free it. Since it is torn at the bottom now, they said to just throw it away. Of course I couldn't let that happen and planned on giving it to a local Boy Scout troop for when they retire flags. After 9/11 we hung it on a wall in the hall at my office until the fire department said it was a fire hazard and made us take it down.
So, stay or go? Is it bad form to have the bottom portion resting on the girt?
