With the key on, I was not getting power from the big bolt on the GPR (closest to the fuel bowl). And still getting 0603 and 0683 re glow plugs.

I was pretty diligent with each job so don’t think I screwed up IPR insides. (IPR shouldn’t cause a no start anyways). Got a bit impatient near the end and maybe missed something.

take another crack at it tomorrow. Thanks again for advice. Will continue to troubleshoot
Your vehicle doesn't have a GPR, the only relay there is for the intake heater. I don't remember what the temp has to be for it to come on, but it's very cold so that's why you're getting nothing there. Your glow plugs are run by a module near that relay, an aluminum box with small fins.

That's because your vehicle doesn't have an EGR valve. No 7.3 does.

I understand the finned box also controls the glow plugs but the relay beside it is for intake heater?

The F series uses two relays, one for GPs and one for the intake heater. The Ex uses the module for the GPs, no external relay. The module is what allows it to have GP fault codes that tell you which GP is bad. I think it was an emissions control requirement for passenger vehicles that doesn't apply to trucks.

With the F series I don't think a bad glow plug will set a code. The Ex can also set a general code for glow plug operation, I found that out this evening after my GF killed the batteries in mine. Apparently the super low voltage triggered a GP system fault, guessing the voltage was so low it couldn't turn the system on. I discounted the fault as being triggered by the low voltage and cleared it without paying attention to what the code number or exact description was. Something to the effect of 'glow plug system failure'.

Whoops, I didn't know that about the Ex. @Mod7.3 , forget everything I said abut your GPR.

I think the Diablo may be leading you astray. Get a proper diagnostic tool for your vehicle.

Yes this is normal, when one of your batteries has bit the dust. You need to Load test your batteries. What is battery your voltage? Unhook one battery and get voltage reading on both of them individually. Then clamp voltage meter to the one that is still hookup and turn the key to on. If your glow-plugs (relay or module) are receiving power, record this voltage. Then see if that battery will turn the engine over. (not start, just turn it over). Repeat this for the other battery. This will load test your batteries and reveal which on is weak. Until you get this ex running, you need to keep a charger on the batteries.

the battery’s were due and got a couple new ones on warranty yesterday. So should be no problem with power now and have been charging them between attempts

MAP sensor. It measures what pressure the air going into the engine is at. Stock PCM will defuel and trigger the SES light when this sensor tells it that the air pressure is ~24psi.

MAP sensor. Provides Manifold Air Pressure reading to the PCM. Essential part in a healthy truck.

EDIT: FTN beat me by a few seconds...
