Let me ask this. How many seconds of cranking the motor since you last had the Ipr out?
lots. Several mins worth Several times. for 10-15 sec duration

on forscan. Takes a few seconds to get up to 185-190 CPI but levels off after that and no more pressure being built.

It might still be worth removing the oil galley plug to bleed air from the hpo system. It wouldn't hurt anything to try it. Have someone crank it for you while you watch for oil. You can signal to them to stop cranking once you see oil. If there is no air in the system oil will just run out. It won't spray out under any force.

You should be be able to use the Ipr pigtail from your old harness.

Ill try try to answer your question on Ipr %. I'm not ignoring it.

If you changed the UVCH's then you have 8 of those plugs in your pile of removed parts

With the ICP unplugged the PCM defaults to a preset value for ICP so it sees pressure. If it sees pressure then it doesn't keep upping the voltage to the IPR trying to increase pressure. Everything points to the PCM commanding more pressure but the IPR is not closing as commanded, or the pump isn't making pressure( not likely since it was working before the work began), or the pressure is leaking off faster than the HPOP can supply it.

There Paul explained it.
Paul is it possible then if he was cranking to bleed air out of the hpo system having icp unplugged was a ineffective or inefficient way to bleed the system?

i suspect I cranked it enough with both it unplugged and plugged to give it a good chance to build sufficient pressure and purge the air

if pressure was leaking off I’d be seeing it somewhere I’d expect.

no IPR yet. Tracking tells me it’s in LA. Should be in the air today. Earliest tomorrow. Probably Thursday or Friday. Like the old days when we used to order from the sears catalogue

Hard to believe I paid 50 bucks for express shipping and it took several weeks to get the IPR. I guess under the circumstances nothing is moving fast Fingers crossed it’s the issue and will be the fix. Should get to it tomorrow.

Success!!!

Well my “maintenance turned to no start turned to repair” ordeal seemed to last forever I finally got the IPR and installed it this evening. It took forever to get the old one out but it was well worth the effort as it took only about 15 secs to fire up ...... music to my ears! I was sure I rebuilt the old one correctly but I was not sure about the small pin being in the right direction and something else must have been off on reassembly.... oh well, learned a ton and will be better prepared for next time. Now I’m snooping for a 7.3 one ton crew cab..... because now my service skills are stronger

thanks to all for your help and input .... and stay safe!

That was a long trip. Now I hope your set for a long ride. Good Job. Sending reps for following through and reporting back.

Glad to hear it. Now go enjoy your truck. If funds allow, start stocking a few of the parts that commonly fail since they seem to be so hard for you to get up there.

Thanks for the reply to finish out your fix in this thread.
Hard to believe the part took so long to ship, but with the current state of everything turned upside down....
situations like yours hone your skills.
