BJ,
Good job on the door. I have never used CLR. Those would be good candidates for the electrolysis process also. Just would need a large tank, like a 275 gallon tote with the top cut out.
Regards,
Chris
Well life does get in the way sometimes. And the Midwest has been too darn hot to get anything done. But I snuck off today and got a little done on the 53 Panel. I managed to get the body off the chassis, all by my lonesome. I’ll have to re engineer the supports to put it back on but for now Mission Accomplished.
Removed the cracked front cab mounts. Luckily I knew they were cracked and bought a set from Kevin a while back. Passenger side front cab mount Same mount different view Drivers cab mount.
After I got the body off the frame I got a couple more surprises. Frame’s cracked at the Passenger Front cab mount and the PO welded the passenger front spring mount to the frame. It’s fun finding this stuff ain’t it?Think I’ll call it a day. Cracked Frame Passenger Side front Spring mount Welded along the top Welded down the rear
Lifting a panel body adds a whole new wrinkle in that task. It makes removing a regular cab by yourself look like child's play.
Why in the world would you weld the mount to the frame? I get that he thought he would never need to move it, but still......
Bummer on the frame crack. It's always something for sure.
