Good stuff BJ, keep moving, you are running out of time for the Ozark Mountain Run.
When I come up to help some day, I can take a look at your processes for managing the pictures and see what I can do. If you are trying to do it on your phone, I won't be much help though.
It’s been awhile! I actually installed the 351C & AOD yesterday but forgot to take pictures. Next up is to measure for a drive shaft.
My wife has been hurting recently (has Cancer) and we’ve spent a considerable amount of time lately visiting Drs. Come to find out she now needs some radiation treatments to try to “kill” the painful cancer. So my time is very limited on truck stuff. Depending on what’s next I not only won’t make my self set deadline to take the Panel to the Ozark Mountain Run this year but May not even be able to attend.
It's been a little bit but the panel is safe and sound in the barn. Haven't done much on it but look at it often. I'm concentrating on fixing up the new place and spending what little truck time I have on the 56 F-100 that's been in the bodyshop for well over a year. But One Day! The panel will roll outta the shop, patina and all.
As some of you may know I did something dumb and bought another Panel for parts in Idaho. I tried to get an acquaintance in Idaho to pick it up and store it but that didn't work out. Sooo I bit the bullet and went out and got it. The roof, sides and one back door look as if they got into a fight with a Forklift and lost. But there are plenty of good parts and I may even be able to build it into a unibody some time in my long line of projects.
The 53 panel in this build thread has a severely bent upper passenger side barn door hinge and since this trucks severely damaged door seems to have good hinges I decided today I would try to remove the hinges from the parts truck door.
For those who might be considering removing the hinges this is how I did it and what I found. The mounting bolt holes on the hinges were very close to 3/8". So I center punched the rivets and progressively drilled the 4 holes out to 3/8". The hinge wouldn't budge. So I drilled the holes to 1/2". Still the hinges were solid. So I took my cutoff wheel and peeled back the sheet metal. There were several spot welds holding the hinge in place. Now that I know what to expect I'll try to remove the sheet metal and then find out just how large I really need to drill.
Holes drilled to 1/2" and sheet metal being trimmed with a cut off saw. Spot welds on hinge Spot welds on inter structure.
What kind of truck are you driving that gets 13mpg?
It's my 2016 F150. Usually gets close to 20 MPG but that panel in a storm and head wind was like dragging a parachute. Found out my truck will run 65 mph in third gear on that trip. Soon as I got home I had them change all my fluids.

I be would be thrilled to get 13 mpg on my road trips. With the camper and open trailer it's about 10-11. With no camper and the enclosed trailer loaded it's 9-9.5. 2005 f150 4x4
