Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 40.6, overcast with some showers.Trying hard not to hit the panic buttons and send up the alert rockets, but...
Getting a little concerned over the myriad of Gun Bills folks. Developing late last night in the State Senate on our Oregon gun bills is a chance, a possibility that "Gut and Stuff" may be in play. That is one of the dirtiest tricks on the books and about as close to tyrannical dictatorship as you can get. And there are also a ton of bills "hanging out" on the shelves in the Oregon House of Representatives that have not yet been scheduled either. They are definitely up to tricks and chicanery by waiting until the last second to post hearing notices.
A totally innocuous gun related bill currently scheduled for April 2nd requiring the State Police to report on Background Checks would be stripped of all language, or appended with a 1 hour or less public notice, to include the most radical of anti-gun rhetoric. They have until tomorrow night to post any notices of 1st committee action on any bills that have not had a hearing yet. If they don't update the Committee agenda in the Senate or post an Agenda for the house in the next 32 to 38 hours, I suspect the "Gut and Stuff" minimal notice (essentially no notice - no time to respond unless you live in Salem) will be in play. And it could be in play even then if they only post one bill.
Using the Gut and Stuff they don't have to provide more than an hour notice of amendment to an existing bill. It makes it impossible for people who live outside of Salem to get to the hearing. Even if they do get something posted by tomorrow night, they have now made it extremely difficult, if not impossible, for folks to make arrangement to get off work and get to the hearings. Multiply that exponentially for people from Southern, Central and Eastern Oregon. They have published that any verbal testimony will be limited to 2 minutes.
Good morning everyone. Got my truck started up late in the evening yesterday but it was running like crap. Ran a diagnostic and turns out one of the injector plugs wasn’t pushed in all the way. Runs well now. Got me to work. Hoping the leaks are fixed.
Good afternoon Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Just got home from Circuit Court. Suspect #1 plead out. 5 days jail, 2 years probation, restitution (not subject to bankruptcy) court costs etc.. Restitution to us has to be paid off to us before the end of his probationary period. Absolutely no remorse or anything on his face. He owes the bank $35K. (As an interesting aside...The judge told him his bail money was forfeited to us, he did not get it back. $1200.00 start anyway.)
Legislative update. The Senate still has not updated, in other words, hiding the bills.
The House Judiciary just posted a 'place holder' and is hiding bills as well. I'm waiting to hear from Kevin and others, but it appears to me that the House is pushing most everything through WITHOUT a public hearing! One bill set for public hearing and 3 harmful bills bypassing the public hearing and now are supposedly are scheduled to be heard for the sole purpose of referral to the House Committee on Rules without recommendation: Which generally means they are dead, but at this point I'm finding it hard to trust anything they are doing. https://olis.leg.state.or.us/liz/201...2-13-00/Agenda
Jim - Thank you for being on top of it for those of us that have to work. I sometimes find it hard to believe that stuff can go on and we'll end up with a bunch of laws that take our rights away but in this day and age I will not hold my breath.
I wish we were mobile enough to just pack up and leave but that isn't in the cards at the moment. It will be a few years before that happens. It's going to be a long few years.

It was just as we feared, but least they released it today instead of waiting until Monday night or Tuesday. I'm worried we haven't seen the end of it yet though. The SB 758 'GUT & STUFF" has been released in the form of Amendment 1. It could very well mean that we may have to reexamine our property here. I can reach ouch and touch a school class room from my driveway. We have school property touching and adjacent to our property on two sides. In fact the School District had a surveyor re survey our property a few very short years ago and forced us to move our fence which had been in place for over 30 years. One of the provisions in it is allowing for no firearms on grounds adjacent to a school building.
Still going through everything, but it looks like your house is no longer yours. You could be arrested and charged with a crime if a burglar broke into your house (or a thief into your car) and stole your firearm if it was not locked in a vault, approved safe, approved lockable container. You can be sued for up to 2 years if you sell a firearm without a trigger lock and the new owner shoots himself or someone else....
Good evening Oregon and Visiting Ford Fans'.
Jim Thank You for keeping Us updated on what the Idiots in Salem are up to.

Changing the voting age to 16 but change smoking and vaping to 21. Ones a personal choice with mostly personal conscious the other effects all.
You'll be in good company. Just be forewarned. If we end up sharing a cell and Color TV, I must insist we watch one of my favorite series, Lethal Weapon, on KPTV 12 every week!
Our new camper should have come off the mfg. line on the 27th. I hope it doesn't take too long to get here. If this law passes I will be a criminal in more ways than one. We'll also NEED that new CAMPER to live in as it will be illegal for us to continue living in our house.
