Im an 04 guy who did just that. I bought a stock 05 intake elbow from Bismic years ago and removed all the clutter. It does throw a code but no cel.
I also did EGR delete and same deal...code but no cel.

As some of you might recall in Anthony's truck the engine looked like the NBC Peacock got sucked in and splattered all over.

Cool compliments!

I have to admit that when it was all bolted in about 3:30 yesterday it was a heck of a good feeling. I probably smiled until about 6 pm! My friend and co-conspirator had the same look on his face.

Thanks so much. I'm following your rebuild, especially since you're going into your engine so deeply.

Getting Closer To Finishing

I stopped at 5 pm today after a good day of rebuild progress.

Tomorrow I'm installing this Racor 4500 air/oil separator, and an Isspro fuel pressure gage. Startup is close.

Getting there David, and looks good.

I’m trying to figure out where to put the 4500. I really don’t want to put it down low. It might be time to relocate the drivers battery, or both, down on the frame.

I like your snazzy CAC tube strap off the alternator.
But seriously great work.

Many years ago that tube busted loose twice within 2 weeks, leaving a visible dent in the hood. After I flared the end of the tube and added the piece of aluminum strap, I took the truck to the local Dent Doctor. You can't begin to tell where the dent was, and the tube has never come loose since.

Looking great! I left my CCV hose to atmosphere on thr frame by the transfer case and it doesn’t drip.

Thanks Jack. I'm gonna mount the 4500 on the frame below my butt, and use 1" i.d. hose. Time and miles will tell if it's an adequate setup.

And another note. In a different thread I started, The Mother of Coolant Leaks, you said you were considering using the anaerobic sealant under the oil cooler. I gave that some thought and did that the other day. I wanted to keep the rubber gasket channel clean, so I packed it with 1/8" cord. Then I uniformly smeared a very thin layer of the anaerobic stuff on the surface. Then I pulled out the cord and had my wife help me delicately lay in the rubber gasket so we didn't muck the gasket through the anaerobic stuff. The final result was pretty good.

I may end up doing it there, too. Somehow I've ended up with 2 4500s

I think Mark has it there with 1" tubing. Actually I think he has the bigger Racor, not that it alters the tubing situation.

I've had my coolant filter behind the front bumper and in front of the driver's tire for decades. I've thought about using that location too. Not sure if there will be enough room in the corner next to the master. Getting the batteries out of the underhood area just opens up so much room for other things.

Road tube! If I remember correctly the commercial VT365 at some weight level does that.

I've still going back and forth with the aerobic there, but I'm not as worried about hitting the rubber gasket. It's cool you went to that level.

We all seem to use it outside of it's intent and I wish we could get better details about the Motorcraft sealant. Permatex does have some materials dedicated towards skinning existing gaskets. But I really want to get a little better at preventing the weeping we normally see even with the o-ring style gaskets.

I've seen the aerobics on the class 8 motors and it's pretty impressive there.
